Thomas AND vacarro? First of all it’s funny some of you think Vacarro is an automatic starter. And if he isn’t why would he come here? Heath has a better year last year than him.

There was a lot of news coming out of New Orleans in the first month of last season that Vaccaro was benched because he was a liability in coverage and not putting in enough prep time for games. He was also benched in 2014, so last year was not the first time. Sounds more like a player that you sign to a one year "prove it" deal to.

But I’m not signing him to that because again, that’s just saying he’s starting over a guy who is better. If Heath beats him out (which he would) he’s not going to be a backup in a prove it year

Not the worst idea in the world imo.

DI is one threesome away to being suspended for Conduct deteremental to the league.

SJ’s basically admitting they didn’t do anything in the draft or FA to address S.
They’d better not do anything stupid to correct it, like trading Irving for ET.

It's not a guarantee Heath would beat him out. Vacarro has been better than Heath 4 of their 5 mutual seasons, and it wasnt close in a couple of them.

How would you define getting benched?

Keep in mind that Irving also "showed" this last year:

https://insidethestar.com/film-room-eagles-gashed-cowboys-trap-scheme/

Sacks are great, but if you're a liability out there against the run, you're a part-time player.

The Eagles took advantage of his aggressiveness and trapped him when he shot through the line on a few plays. Some like to use this as evidence that he's a poor run player. It's not. It's an example of Philly understanding the defense's objective and taking advantage of it. We should recognize good play-calling for what it is ... and realize that it's up to the coordinator to adjust if teams try to do that.

The Philly game was an aberration that some who want to devalue Irving seem to want to use as the rule.

we need bowman, thomas, and a DT (maybe McClain) to take this defense seriously.
Getting good youth is what makes a defense, not some aging over the hill puzzle pieces. ET is in a different category for at least 2 years though. Bucs, Ravens, Vikings, 90s Cowboys ect.

We have enough youth as it is. You need savvy vets to offset and cover for the youth mistakes they will undoubtably make. Plus many of the "aging; over the hill player" are better than the youth players. Btw now a single one of those players is even 30 yet.

Ok so where does Bowman factor in? I would have said yes to last year because we could have used him when Hitchens went down but this year? what are you going to do sit LVE?

Name the vets on the ravens, bucs, and vikings. very limited. Only Haley on the cowboys.

It's covering your bases. Bowman makes the least sense of the three, but he would still be an outstanding insurance option if 1. Lee gets injured 2. Jaylon doesnt progress from last year 3. LVE does in fact play like a rookie and we are trying to go for a super bowl.

Wait what? Are you asking what vets were on past Super Bowl teams? You do know the Bucs were made up almost entirely of vets right? That's a huge thing they were known for. And now Gruden is trying to mimic his past success by bringing in a bunch of vets this offseason. Plus I don't see your point in asking that?

I'll ask this to you. Do ET3, McClain, and Bowman give this team a better chance of winning a super bowl?

The only way they trade for et is if he continues to hold out. Seahawks clearly aren’t going to pay him that it came out during the draft they called the cowboys asking for their second round pick.
