Equal Opportunity case.
White man - 1 game
Black man - 6 games after accuser proven to be liar and want to ruin his career.

Owners can jump in at any time.
Go Jerry.
Good opportunity to punt Goodell and get a commissioner from the NBA.

I don't think this is decision is remotely about race. It is about 1. Cowboys negative bias and 2. The NFL going overboard and caring noting about the facts to appear hard on domestic violence.

Having said that 1.play whatever card it takes to win and 2. If the victim said that he won't win because he is black and she is white, I'm not sure how anyone could believe anything she said in this matter.

If the Cowboy FO and Elliott are smart. They let it go..be contrite and build for the future. Elliott can never win. Fair has nothing to do with reality. Elliotts image needs a slow careful rebuild. It will happen...but it will take some time. Elliott is not a monster...he is 22 and simply needs to grow up and get real. His career depends on it. Simple.

That question has been answered. A potential scenario is that she didn't want to report him because she was hoping they would still be together. Very common occurrence in DV situations.

But can "potential" scenarios hold up in court? I'm feeling better about Elliott's chances.

Exactly what you said - play whatever card it takes to win.
Rile up the public so the NFL has to be worried about being the cause of a riot.
Jerry can go to his fellow owners - see what Goodell is screw up.
To win, you have to be willing to blow the whole thing up.
Jerry can tell the other owners that Zeke is pissed and is ready to lead a public nasty fight with the race card, and they would have to err on the side of caution.

I'm not sure those texts undermine her as much as you may think.

Think of this hypothetical...Zeke and this girl (let's call her Sally) are in a relationship where he's been physically abusive to her. But like a lot of abused women she stays in the relationship and doesn't report any abuse because she loves him, et cetera. Eventually, Zeke loses interest in their relationship but she's still emotionally invested (which she clearly seemed to be). Because Zeke has put the kabosh on the relationship, she threatens to report him to police as a way of being vindictive and hoping to spook him back into seeing her.

I think that very plausible scenario comports with the reported text messages (admittedly, I haven't read all of them). If so,
It sounds reasonable what you said but if she was just okay with getting beat on for love, gravy train, etc why would she then always be taking pictures. I'm not up on DV but the people getting beat up now are taking pictures, telling their parents who don't say nothing, and going back to get beat up every other day for about a week straight? That doesn't make sense to me or I'd think most people but maybe to someone envolved with DV more can put me straight on that.

We're the photos taken from their last supposed interaction or over the course of time? Sincere question cause I don't know.

Here we go, I guess.

This is going to get so unbelievably racial, it'll be ugly. I tremor at where this is headed.

Kaepernick times 1000.

I would like to see how Goodell justifies white guy Brown getting 1 game for admitting to 20 incidents and Zeke got six for events that did not justify a charge.

that should be enough to start protests and threaten riots.
something like "roger, zeke's family is furious and his parents talking about leading protests. i hope the situation does not get out of control."

All fanbases are happy about this decision and I am sure all the owners are too.

Yeah I want them to fight but not sure what good will come of it. Don't cause trouble, appeal it down to 2-3 games and use it as motivation to break some records.

they would not be happy if the race card is played and played well.
their golden goose would be damaged.
you have to be willing to threaten mutual assured destruction.

So basically, you are saying even if Elliott is innocent he should just admit guilt and hope he can rebuild his reputation 7 years down the road?

Too many of you are thinking about this strictly from a football perspective....... get the appeal down a few games and go from there, no real damage.

You are forgetting that a kid has had is reputation completely tarnished and no amount of time is going to remove that stigma. If he truly is innocent, he should fight this tooth and nail.

with both his parents tweeting, there is a high likelihood that it is under attorney instructions.
zeke should say nothing and tweet nothing.
his parents can represent him publicly.

this is not just a legal battle.
it is also a public relations battle.
PR is very important because the it could cost the NFL money, attendance and tv ratings.
a PR based attack gives Jerry the ammo to go to the other owners and say goodell is costing them $ and brand.
the skank would be smart to move away to a far away town after selling her story for as much as she can get.

they need to absolutely destroy her credibility - like the tweets about the black man/white woman, the be smart comment, etc.
they also need to absolutely destroy the concept that the league is being even handed - like goodell was not even present at the hearing etc.

Having the parents tweet and stand up for their son is really a great PR move. It humanizes Zeke and that he is real victim here and that the NFL was negligent in handling this case. All evidence point to Zeke as innocent. Commissioner ignored hearings from the panel and didn't even speak to the accuser in person. This can eventually become a PR nightmare for the NFL and it would have been better if the commissioner would have just given Zeke a lighter suspension or just a slap in the hand.
