News: PFT: Jerry Jones: I thought we would have coached it up enough to win without Romo

Brees has missed exactly one game since he signed with the Saint's.............yea, Payton not winning that one game Brees missed is the same as Garrett not being able to win a game all dam season.................apples to oranges my friend.

And as far as this being knee jerk, Garrett is completing his 5th full season on the job and has broken the 8 win marker just one time.

And yes, you are done if you lose your starting QB as far as a SB run goes, but you dam sure don't lose every single game. I see teams week in and week out trotting out 2nd and 3rd stringers and getting wins.

Losing 7 consecutive games in the NFL is a sign of bad coaching, plain and simple............Jerry is finally starting to realize this.

This post right here! I just looked and saw that the Saints are top 5 in yards per game and top 10 in points per game. All of this after they traded their best weapon in Jimmy Graham. I know they still have Brees but I remember people thinking their offense would be terrible this year etc. Sean Payton gets the best out of his offense plain and simple!

Exactly bro............posters trying to compare Garrett to Payton is laughable

Payton has a ring while Garrett has posted more than 8 wins just once in his entire coaching career...........yea, the two are totally equal:rolleyes:

I know! I'll be shocked if Garrett is fired so I'm not going to get my hopes up ;)

Nah, Garrett is "in the family portrait" so he is good to go.

However, Jerry has shown in the past that he will change assistant coaches faster than he changes underwear, so the assistant coaches on the team probably should not make any major purchases right now.;)

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones does not seem impressed with the job done by coach Jason Garrett this season. Jones says he thought the coaching staff could have done a better job of succeeding despite the injury to Tony Romo, and he’s disappointed that it wasn’t until Monday night in Washington that they managed to win…http://youwillnotrackme2.net/b.gif?host=profootballtalk.nbcsports.com&blog=&post=2367621&subd=nbcprofootballtalk&ref=&feed=1

Yeah you coached up Weeden and got rid of him -----the good part was getting rid of him !!!

Have you ever heard the saying, "the man with the gold makes the rules?".

When the owner of the team says it is bad coaching, doesn't matter what anybody else says because he is the one signing the paychecks.

Jerry is free to fire whoever he likes.

Doesn't mean his decisions are rooted in fact.

Don't get me wrong........... there are issues beyond just Garrett. There are some roster issues that need to be fixed as well.

But it's clear Garrett is not an upper echelon coach and this organization shouldn't let a few roster issues deflect from the fact that the coaching staff hasn't done a great job themselves.

Garrett has one good year out of 5 so it's not like he has some great track record to fall back on that allows one to just ignore this season. He's been pretty much an average head coach for much of his career.

Garrett has never had a losing season. This would be the first.

Look, I'm not trying to couch Garrett as the next Vince Lombardi. I'm saying he's as good as we can hope for as long as Jerry is here.

The proven transcendent coach isn't coming here.

Was it bad head coaching when Dez single-handedly gave away the Tampa game? Was it bad coaching when the defense gave away the Saints game in OT? Was it bad coaching when Cassel threw brain-dead picks against New York to lose that game? Was it bad coaching when the crappy Eagles offense scored all over Marinelli's defense and won in OT? Was it bad head coaching when Dallas gave away a late drive to lose to Seattle by one point?

It's not that plain and simple.

Bad luck and bad backup quarterback options doomed this season. The injuries to Dez and Romo, coupled with an unfortunate schedule during that time against high-quality quarterbacks, is the culprit. Playcalling and coaching decisions have played a minimal role.

I seem to remember a DB getting a holding call after we fell on a fumble that would have won the game.

I don't know how Dez was in involved in that but whatever.

As for the rest of that yes bad coaching could correlate with all of that.

If you don't think bad play calling and coaching decisions have more than a minimal role in the current state of the team you are delusional.

What play do you call with Brandon Weeden? It hasn't been invented yet. And Matt Cassel is only marginally better.

Dropped an easy third down pass that would have ended the game.

Then, Cassel puts a ball right on him to win it, and he doesn't even attempt to catch it.

Yah but Sean Payton has Drew Brees. Plain and simple. None the less I would welcome him with open arms.

Or you could look at it as Garrett has only had one winning season. Half full?

I'm saying he's as good as we can hope for as long as Jerry is here.

This statement is pretty sad. So what is this supposed to mean? That we should simply accept bad coaching? There is absolutely no chance in heck that Garrett is the best that we can hope for. If that is the way that you truly feel about the Cowboys than I feel pity. That is all but saying we should all just give up. I will never accept that Garrett is as good as we can hope for. Never. Garrett is about as bad as it gets. No chance I am going to accept that.

You pretty much just gave an example of how we lost every way possible. When you find ways to lose week after week in just about every different way, then absolutely the answer is yes. Or you could just use the eye test of what you see. Like last week watching Garrett bumble the end of game clock management.

Playcalling and coaching decisions have played a minimal role

Of course they played a minimal role. Because that supports your Garrett love agenda. Yet no doubt had we won 7 straight you would be applauding Garrett up and down for his incredible coaching job.

If you truly think that play calling and coaching decisions play a minimal role then what you are really saying is that Garrett is incapable of making a difference. Which in theory I have to agree with. A coach that either doesnt or cant make a difference with his team or affect the game in a positive way is exactly what you would call a bad coach. So in a round about way you nailed it.
