There's a weak rumor going around that they might have been able to use the two way radios to hear Cowboys play calls. I don't give it much credence, but it's interesting to talk about.

As a scanner enthusiast, this is possible but not with that radio they were using unless it was programmed for the frequency the Cowboys were using but communications are usually encrypted. This isn't Nascar otherwise the fans would be bringing in radios so the team frequencies are not usually open; but with special equipment probably purchased in NY, it is possible if they know what frequency the Cowboys are on maybe.

Here is a discussion of that:

Also why cant the coach communicate with the QB in the last 15 seconds of a game ?

I don't believe the Giants went so far as to listen to our calls, especially when they were using the walkies in plain view on the sideline. BUT I did think it was weird how Sturm said it was as if Janoris knew every route Dez was running. Someone in Reddit also posted a play fake to Witten that absolutely no one on defense bit, not even for a split second.

It's the last 15 seconds of the play clock--To avoid them calling out potential blitzes etc.

I thought if your comm broke down you were to notify officials who then would cut off the other teams comm until both were working? I wonder if they notified officials or kept it to themselves and bypassed NFL comms. If they did notify officials and still did this, then we have even a bigger issue because then the officials colluded with the team....Which is even a bigger story and one Goodell would probably want to cover up.

Freaking clowns.
ive been lookin into this now. didnt realize they could have a competitive advantage.

found this tidbit...

"So the reports are actually coming out now that the Giants were on the same radio frequency as the Cowboys and knew every play call in the 4th quarter. That is the only quarter they got pressure on Dak….so….read into that what you will"

It was in the media that he only used the walkie talkie for 4 or 5 plays. IF that is true, I am sure it had no impact on the game. But the team should still be fined. IF it is not true and he used it a lot more than that, then it is a different story. The Cowboys themselves admitted him using the walkie talkie had no impact on them losing the game. But it still warrants a consequence if it is illegal.

They knew the rule and cheated, period!

A fine isn't enough, they should lose a draft pick as well, just like other teams that have gotten caught cheating.

Watching Dan Patrick today, he showed footage of their coach talking into it on the sidelines, how did the refs not see this.

This is not true, it was clearly the whole first drive of the 4th qtr that ended with an Anthony Brown interception. It was pointed out by the commentators, they just failed to mention that it was also illegal to be using the walkie-talkies. The 4 or 5 run plays mentioned by Eli was the plays that they had no communication and you could see Eli running back and forth to the sidelines for the play.

Beyond the use of the walkie-talkies, what the heck were they even doing on the sidelines in the first place. There was absolutely no reason for them to be there since the league banned them from being used.
