Pick Buehler's PK USC profile *Merged*

Like I said before, if getting this guy means that other teams start on the 20 as opposed to the 35, then this was a great pick.

if they want to use a roster spot for a kickoff specialist, they could have found one in FA

I just got home and saw this. A replacement gasket is not even possible. This guy sucks. Beyond 40 yards he is a grasshopper, great on distance, lousy on direction. The only thing I can think of is kickoffs and wasting a draft pick on kickoffs pisses me off.

I hate this pick.

What he said.

every roster spot is precious. You do not want to have to use two spots for place kickers

i bet they end up keeping Folk, and this was a wasted pick. If they want someone that can average 5 extra yards on kickoffs than Folk, they could have found one in FA

It's a helluva lot better than 5 yards. Folk had a very good kick when he made it to the 5, and when he got it inside of that, it was usually a line drive and we didn't see our coverge guys till the returner was crossing the 20 or 25.

This guy was NOT brought in to replace NIck Folk....clearly, the special teams coach, wade phillips, and others felt we needed a kickoff guy.

Just to repeat - Goose just said this was a good pick. Called him the best kickoff kicker in the draft. In August someone will need a kicker and we will have two. We either keep him to kick off or trade him.

Look on the positive side: Jerry Jones says he's looking to return the seriousness to the Cowboys. No position is safe beyond Romo's, including the kicker's position.

You want to get better and remove the satisfied, fat-cat attitude on the team? Create competition at EVERY level. This is a move that says that louder than anything.

I can agree with that. Like I said before, this pick made it obvious that they were not happy with Folk's KO's.

So we'll activate 3 RB's, a FB, two kickers and a punter every game?

it's really simple, so read this very slowly and take it all in:

our KOs were terrible last year. part of our defensive problems was that we were giving up too many yards on a KO return. having a K that can actually kick touchbacks would give us much better field position and also put less wear and tear on our players.

To keep him, he has to hold down another spot. He will need to be the 3rd TE, backup FB, field goal holder, longsnapper, or be valuable covering kicks. Otherwise, using a roster spot for him and another one for a 3rd QB will be tough to do. It will mean going very short at some position.

of course he did. Goose works for the Cowboys

again, they could have found a kickoff specialist in FA

not a big deal though imho. I actually think this has been a decent draft overall for Dallas

I've heard Goose state it when he thinks we had a bad pick or that we've "reached" on a pick.

You should take it up with the Cowboys' STs coach who was pushing for this pick.

But yhea, I'd have waited until later in the draft and taken another position.

he is on with norm right now...He said he used to be a safety and a running back and wants to play on special teams!!!

Yep...listening right now.

I like the pick.

Folk's kickoffs sucked arse.

And it wasn't just due to Bruce Read.

Essentially, he can boot the ball on the kick off, and then run down the field and make the tackle. Not all kickers are willing to risk their body.
