I'm more along the lines of Jerry needs to hire coaches like Jimmy, Parcells and McCarthy. Guys who have been there and done that. The Gaileys, Campos and Garretts don't have enough know-how to go it alone without a strong GM behind him. We talk about coaches, but to an extent, Jerry is a puppet GM. When we get a proven head coach, he generally lets them pull the strings while occasionally throwing something out there like the TO signing to show he's still in charge.

That's why I'm hoping when McCarthy is done here that we give Quinn a chance. He showed that he can get a team to a Super Bowl as a head coach, so he has that kind of clout. Of course, if McCarthy succeeds and stays, we might lose Quinn to another opportunity. I'm hoping Jones can keep showing him the money that keeps him here, though.
I agree but Jimmy hadn't done it before he won here. Maybe Jerry was trying to emulate that. Mike was his perfect hire.

Agree.

Is Big Mike even talking to the OC during the game?

Looked like Jets went to a zone a lot.

Those short passes were not as effective then.

Need more pre snap motion.

Otherwise, they are just running the play no matter what.
It's the beer goggles that don't let you see the pre snap motion

McCarthy has built a offense that actually makes Dak look comfortable. Lean on the run game and take the easy shots when they are there. My only concern is if we're playing against a Mahomes, can we open it up and go down field when we need to
The offense reminds me of the super bowl teams of the 90's ...run the ball and control the time of possession. Emmitt caught a lot of check downs when the first couple of reads were not there, just like we have seen so far this year. This offense we see so far will keep Mahomes on the sideline...no need to get into a shootout with him.

McCarthy does need to remove his head from his *** in the RZ though.

Dak threw 38 times. How is that more balanced than what Moore called?
It’s not really a matter of balance, it’s the new scheme that’s appealing. You can consider many of those short passes a part of the run game, as they’re no risk throws with ultra high completion percentages.

Yes, I just wish they were 4- to 7-yard routes and not 2 to 3-yard ones. A 2-yard completion isn't impactful enough. And since the receivers aren't wide open, there's little YAC. The West Coast offense is designed to get people in space so they can get some YAC, using pre-snap reads. So far, Dak and McCarthy aren't there yet. The formations aren't achieving that. So the 2-yard throw and catch goes for 2 yards. I hope this improves. Either find a way to get people open in the flat and middle near the LOS using motion or pre-snap reads, or just extend the route a little to make it a 5-yard catch.

MM has simplified things for Dak; lots of short passes and passes into the flats that serve as extended runs; it’s a single read and letting it fly. No need to hold the ball and try and decipher coverages.
Like the pace of the offense…think they ran 66 plays; just the sheer number will wear down the defense.
82 plays

They’re going to stay with this formula as long as it’s effective. I have no problem with that and they had no issues driving the ball against a good defense. The red zone is where we struggled. Fix that and we’ll hang 30 on anyone. While 30 may not win every game, it’s supposed to win ~80% of them.

Fans want flash. First it’s ‘5-7 yards further down field’, then it’s ‘take the top off the defense’. 5-7 yards further downfield changes the entire risk profile of the play. Look for long, grinding drives by the offense. I do believe that’s what they’re after. Just wish we had a little more dynamics in the RB positions. I still don’t believe Pollard is the guy to hand off to 20+ times/game, but that’s just me.

I'm more interested in calling the right kind of play at the right time, and less interested in balance issues. I'm also more impressed with McCarthy's west coast offense approach.

Yeah so did Switzer.....college football and NFL is way different.
That's true. There are some coaches who succeeded in college and not in the pros. Of course, yours is a bad example since he did win a Super Bowl. The point is that Jerry trusts those coaches to know what they want and need. He doesn't meddle as much and leans more on their understanding of how to be a head coach (and actually learns from them some ... at least in the case of Parcells). With coaches promoted from an assistant position, Jerry takes a bigger role, which is to the detriment of the team.

Romo explaining how fast they are in the huddle and the pace of the offense is another great wrinkle and defenses are on their heels while looking for a breather.
Yup. And that's how you catch the defense with a extra man on the field as well

I'm not a fan. But you have to play to your quarterback's strengths and within his limitations. And with a great defense, it might be enough.
Like going into a Movie Theatre and stating up front I won't enjoy this new movie unless background lights are green every where.

Now state you are unable to cope with ironic comparisons without a simple one line counter already in one's possession for just such situations...

Next bring to view something like CB Brown getting signed by SF in enough time to get timing and positional indicators - to start planning up for the game #5 against the Cowboys.

Brown saying: 'Bet!' I'll gamble a Lombardi against time as a Cowboy.

SF is paying up front for the organization's long set hate for the Cowboys...
but we don't know about a designed scheme that is able to handle just such adjustments...I don't know now.

Mike McCarthy since he has been our coach has been the media’s punching bag. Been ridiculed, questioned about what does he actually do for the team etc. He basically was Jerry’s puppet with all decisions. He never wanted Boy Wonder here but Jerry threw him at him. Well finally, the senile old man saw the light and got rid of Moore. Mike McCarthy take a BOW you have done a hec of a job with this offense in two games. I am so happy that the media is now giving you all the praise to so much deserve. We were never going to go anywhere with Moore’s ridiculous play calling this year once again!! Glad he is out of our lives.

I have some Bears fan friends. One made the comment that the playcaller was calling plays for the QB he wished he had instead of the one he has and its making Fields look terrible.

I think that rings true with what happened with Dak and Kellen, particularly last year.
