Note, Mike used the kicking game a lot when he was in Green Bay. It wasn't uncommon for him to settle for 3 when it became clear that it was the best outcome, and the Packers usually were a dangerous team as a result.

So refreshing! Gotta luv it!
early results are looking good, but i’m not ready to agree just yet. what i can say is that i respect the hell out of mike for making the call to run off an OC that was producing at the (paper) levels kellen was to take the onus on himself. gutsy move and he’s putting his stamp down

The timing of the passes and the runs is what is different. The Cowboys managed this game so much better than in years past. Also against this Jets defense Dallas used short passes in lieu of runs many times.
Also Dak was getting those short passes out very quickly. It was effective. KM used to use so many slow developing plays which increased pressure against the QB. I was impressed with MM's W.C. offensive style.

I'm actually surprised the fanbase seems to get it. McCarthy kept his horses in the barn for this one. He was basically calling the game to not lose it on offense. Low risk plays all game long.

The defense looks better for several reasons. One of which is that the offense is protecting it. No turnovers, short fields and lots of possession time.

And yeah, the Chargers look a little Cowboyish. I wouldn't be surprised if they were near the league leaders in points scored and still finish 9-8.
He has to keep the “horses in the barn”. That’s how we’ve got a shot at going to the big dance.

Red zone O was terrible but MM is light years ahead of Kellen in managing a game and playing complimentary football
RZ offense was conservative on purpose. They could have scored 50

I love it. Love the concepts, love the conservative play calling, I love that he stuck with the run even though it wasn't doing a lot of obvious damage but it forced Jets to defend it all game. I love that he settled for the field goals and meant that Jets never had a short field or momentum to work with. Jets only had about 3 opportunities to actually be excited something on D.. that is huge. By the fourth.. they were demoralised.

However this comes from a HC that knows that it will not be the offensive stats he is judged on.. but the championships he wins. That is big.. MM doesn't care what numbers the O puts up.. just that we win the game. that will make a huge difference. MM quite happy for this to be a Defence first team.. let them win the game for us.. and the O then has the simple job of staying on the field as long as possible and taking any points it can.

Also some of those rub plays are huge.. CD getting a heap of space..
