It appears Wade has saved something else:

Didn't Jerry basically tell Wade its either Stewart or the both of you?

No he never said that please post where Jerry said that. Many things get made up and people then use it as a means to justify their own position. Wade took over play calling then released Steward putting the defense in his own hands

My head is not up anyones butt yours maybe I can't say. If Wade get the job done he deserves to keep his job if not then he deserves to be fired what is so difficult to understand about that?

Man I hope you're wrong.

But I think short of something big this year, Jerry will come to his senses (did I just say that?) and move on.

Now who he moves on to...well that's another story.

You hope I'm wrong? So you would just rather see the team lose

No matter who Dallas were to hire I would give them a fair chance to do the job if they get it done that is what matters the rest of fan BS or their own preference in coaching style thing is the fan does not play the game

I don't "love" Wade but if he can get this thing going and I think it's on that path right now- then he should remain in charge until it goes south again. He's doing a good job and the players play for him with passion- not always with great intelligence- but definitely passion.

If he has success in the postseason he HAS to become an integral part of the Cowboys future in some capacity. Just an opinion. This is clearly a Wade Phillips constructed team right now playing good ball.

No Jerry did not say that. Jerry hired Garrett because Miami gave Jerry a short time to hire him or they would retain him. Had Wade had an issue with Garrett he would not have taken the job. Many other coaching including Decamilla where brought in by Wade and players like Brooking, Igor and Sensabaugh are here because of Wade. Again Jerry is accused of saying alot of things that are flat out lies and made up stories to fit critics own agenda. If Jerry wanted Garrett to be the HC Jerry would have done it that is not the case. Deal with facts not rumors

I don't love him either and there's certainly things I'd love to see him change:

1. bring in two groups of officials for practices... twice as many officials to get more calls made.

2. larger emphasis on 2 minute drill stuff. ---though hard to argue with last week's execution there.

3. harder line on injuries a la BP.

4. start giving the media the same crap BP did, they are all sadists and apparently love that stuff.

But this team is good enough to win playoff games and I have little patience for some mini-rebuild in another coach's mold.

As long as this team plays hard and can win a playoff game Wade deserves to keep his job. There isn't a single coach out there who's had nothing but success.

When Tony Dungy was winning with the Colts player-friendly and football good guy was the way to go. Now all of a sudden is it anathema.

That is all I expect. I have no major man love for Wade, I respect his job as the HC if he gets the job done that is what matters if he fails then Jerry will find someone else. Jerry has never been shy about firing people

So did Jerry not tell Wade that he could not fine players for missing certain team functions?

As it stands...there's no way we beat New Orleans. Probably would lose to Minnesota also. Therefore, I don't see him retaining the job, particularly when we can't even find a sponsor to buy the naming rights of the stadium. Too much money is vested on us succeeding.

The businessman in Jerry knows this, even if the GM side of him is a complete ****ing idiot.

The Colts were about to lose AGAIN to the Pats right before they won that SB. Trailing 21-6 going into the half. All the stars aligned for them otherwise they were getting beat down again. But yeah, Dungy was a great coach. Took a little luck and uh, oh... um, Peyton Manning.

That 13-3 team came out of him prior to that we were 9-7. We won our 1st NFC East title in years under Wade. Yes last year was disappointing and I do think he has to win big to remain the HC I would not say he must win the SB to keep his job I do think winning in post season and playing quality football will keep his job just as it would any other HC in the NFL.

No...I hope you're wrong about him keeping his job if he only wins a playoff game or two but no Super Bowl appearance.

He needs to at least get to the Super Bowl.

Anything less...hit the road.

We clearly disagree. This team has not seen a playoff win or an NFC Championship games in years. If Wade gets them to the NFC Championship game I think Jerry will keep him instead of tearing it all down and rebuilding once again. That would be stupid, you keep coaches when they show clear cut progress and a trip to the NFC Championship for this organization right now would be big. Hell many of the critics around here wrote this team off 2 weeks ago

Wade Phillips will not keep his job if we just win one Playoff Game.

Jerry Jones will have a hard time selling tickets to the new Stadium if Wade Phillips is retained because he simply won 1 Playoff Game in 3 Seasons.

Especially given the above average talent he has.

How low have we fallen where won Playoff Win in 3 years is sufficient enough to get a new contract.

As much as I loathe Jason Garrett, I would rather see him become Head Coach, rather then see Wade Phillips get a 1 year lame duck extension.

I don't know 12 year or more? This is not the 90's team this team has been at the bottom of the bucket and now back to respectability. All this SB or bust stuff is pretty funny when you figure how long has it been since we had any success. I don't know if 1 playoff win would do it but I do think if this team makes it to the NFC Championship game and plays quality ball win or lose Wade will be back. I don't see Jerry trying to rebuild once again.

I do not think he can. He has not been offered and extension and I doubt he will be. Maybe a Super Bowl win erases that, but I don't see us winning the Super Bowl.

you dont? i believe is Austin proves to be who he really is..i think our shot at the SB will be great..with our 3 running backs....and a D coming together

For as much as everyone around here hates Wade and claims we're underachievers (and even I think he's gone next year) fan interest seems to be incredibly high. The TV ratings for that Falcons game were simply incredible. I mean, we just had the highest Sunday afternoon TV rating in 13 years! And I wouldn't be surprised if that is more important to Jerry than many people appreciate. Maybe the most important thing to Jerry is fan interest and attention, and that seems to be doing more than fine right now.
