<<--------- Polamalu has better hair..

I can't believe you would sit there and strait up lie us like that Woodrow. You know, as well as I, that there is nothing you like better about Polamalu then Woodson.

This entire thread just reinforces how overrated Polamalu is, has always been, and will always be.

Darren Woodson's skills were transcendent.

His skills were transcendent?

This thread is out of control. I understand this is the Cowboyszone and I understand everybody here loved Woody, but come-on!

Woodson didn't even make the All-90's Decade team:

1st Team Safeties: Ronnie Lott and Steve Atwater
2nd Team Safeties: Carnell Lake and Leroy Butler

When I hear "transcendant" I think HOF. HOF is a really tough ticket for safeties. I think something like a single pure safety (Paul Krause) has been selected to the HOF the past 25 years or so.

Woodson was a lot better. There aren't very many defensive backs in history that could hit like a linebacker, run like a cornerback, and man cover slot WRs with ease.

If covering nobody your entire career and being a freelancer earns you hall of fame consideration, then where's the talk about Ed Reed? He was head and shoulders better than Polamalu.

Reed was better and should be a first ballot HOF in 2019.

Terrific job of ignoring the next two sentences where I explained that he is transcendant across schemes. Bravo.

Of course he didn't make the all-decade team. He was a rookie in 93 and the Cowboys were terrible when he hit his prime. To be a 4 time All-Pro and not be on the all-decade team is pretty criminal anyways. He had more INTs and tackles than Ronnie Lott in the decade

I'm not putting my biases aside, I love the Cowboys and hate the steelers and have hated them since the 70's, ain't going to change.

I hate the Steelers but that doesn't prevent me from being honest and objective. The great thing about threads like these are they expose the biased armchair FANS.

This entire thread just reinforces how overrated Polamalu is, has always been, and will always be. He's a flash player. For every big play he made, there were two where he took himself out of position. Polamalu with most any other coordinator in the league would have been a good player, sure, but he didn't have the speed or coverage ability needed to be much more than an in the box safety.

Darren Woodson's skills were transcendent. He could have been the same player in every scheme. People want to gloss over the fact that could cover slot receivers, which Polamalu could never even dream of doing.

It's Woodson and it's not even close.

This entire thread just reinforces how biased and delusional Cowboy FANS are and will always be.

If you knew nothing about the careers each of these two players would have and you were drafting between the two today, who would you draft?

No question. He just wasn't better than Darren Woodson.

That's your opinion. But Polamalu will have no problem getting into the NFL Hall of Fame. Woodson won't have such an easy road, if he ever gets in.

That's probably true. Again, scheme is really important in these kinds of things. Archie Manning was one of the best QBs (talent wise) in the history of the game. I honestly believe that. Unfortunately, he went to a team where players go to die and he's not thought of as a great player. Just an example (extreme) of what I am trying to say.

People, this is a good thread and I'm enjoying it but lets not allow it to get to personal here. Everybody has opinions and everybody is entitled.

Thank you.

The same could be said about Joe Montana or Troy Aikman or Steve Young (if he had stayed with the Buccaneers).
Whether scheme or not, Polamalu took advantage of the scheme he was in. That's all he can do. And he was dang good at it.

I, personally, don't see the need to compare Cowboys players to other great players. It's like guys comparing Johnson sizes. Why would you want to do such a thing? But if you're going to pull it out and compare, well, then Polamalu was better than Woodson. That's not a knock on Woodson. He was very good at what he did. I just think Polamalu was better and made more of a big-play impact on his defense than Woodson did on the Cowboys defense.

I would draft Polamalu based on his first round draft grade in a first round that produced some pretty good players like Carson Palmer, Andre Johnson, TNew, Terrell, Suggs, Larry Johnson, Nnamdi Asomugha and Dallas Clark. The 92 draft was weak with the top two picks going bust and Woodson was a 2nd round pick plus 2 safeties were drafted ahead of him.

What's being posted is typical of Cowboy FANS they think practically every player in the history of the organization should be in the ROH and HOF. I've seen names posted here from Moose Johnson to Dale Hellestrae as players who should be in the HOF. Hellestrae's name came up last year with one FAN claiming he was deserving of a bust in Canton for being the greatest long snapper in the history of the game. LOL Woodson not yet being added to the ROH when 5 of his teammates have already been added should send a message to even the biggest Cowboys FAN that he wasn't a "great" player. Woodson didn't have near the career for the Cowboys that Polamalu had for the Steelers. Had he had the same career Jerry would have added him to the ROH along with Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin, Allen and Haley. Again not trying to disrespect Woodson he was a "very good" player but not even close to a Troy Polamalu or he would already be in the ROH and HOF.
