There is a huge difference between illegal things people do that involve their own well being and things people do that inflict pain and death on a helpless victim.

I'm also unsure what the war in Iraq, the price of gas and the US Space Program have to do with this topic at all.

I find it absurd that a congressman would swing his power in writing a letter and threatening government intervention into a private commercial entity, should action not be taken against one of it's employees prior to a criminal charge even being filed.

If I were being investigated for dog fighting, I seriously doubt the government, at any level, would propose that my employer take disciplinary action against me, especially if no charges had even been filed. More to the point, were my employer to take some sort of action against me, citing the investigation, I would have my attorney crawling up HR's hind quarter faster than Bob Lilly got to QBs.

Were you given an antitrust exemption by Congress??

If not, your comparison is invalid...

I recall reading on another thread, now closed, that Clinton Portis' statements in support of Michael Vick and dog fighting included "It's his land and it's his property, he can use it any way he wants to." That must be a good argument; all the old slave owners used it.

Although I do believe dog fighting is horrendous and cruel, I do believe there have been some gross over reactions in this thread and other threads with the same subject. I do believe that there should be a reasonable punishment for a crime such as this; however lethal injection would not fit my perspective of justice!

I agreed with the rest of your post, but I think you can make a parallel between dog fighting and abusing children. Obviously abusing children holds a more vile stigma in our society, but there are similarities.

Child abuse is much, much worse, but they're the same KIND of crime-- inhuman cruelty...

Maybe I'm soft-hearted, but it rips that heart out to hear a dog howling in pain... how ANYBODY could derive ANY kind of pleasure from watching that is beyond me...

Now I do know their are enough TO butt kissers here that'd find any excuse to defend that guy....but for the most part they haven't been part of this discussion.

For the rest of us that have(and have so with a passion)...you obviously have no ability to judge character....but I'd say we'd hammer their collective arses whether they were a Cowboy or not....and it's an insult to think we would do otherwise.

I never said anything as such, you are basing that statement on what you think I meant by the statement and nothing else.... you could have asked me what I meant by the statements, instead of rushing to an incorrect conclusion. My post simply put the question out there as food for thought about how we as Cowboys fans would react if one of our own players was involved in such an accident.



Also,I you don't even know who I am outside of my posts and to judge me as such by my posting would lead me to believe that you yourself have no ability to judge character, since you are basing your opinion on such a shallow form of evaluation.

As I understand it, the NFL's exemption only applies to broadcasting deals. And I'd be interested to know what type of jurisdiction Congress can claim because of the exemption.
