If Rockport was a Kansas City Cheifs fan in 2016....

"If the Cheifs get rid of Alex Smith then expect another 10-15 years of .500 seasons."
No one on earth would have said that. Alex Smith was never thought of as a great QB.

We don’t know that for a fact. No QB is going to be the answer with the playoff teams we have. We can’t run the ball, the defense sucks and we commit too many penalties. How is any QB going to overcome that? As for Rush they rallied around him because we were trying to save our season until Dak returned. Our defense played lights out! Our running game was better. Rush didn’t have to do much. He only threw 5 TD passes in 6 games. Our offense fell to 17th with him and we had very little passing game. We won with our kicker and defense. If you think the team will rally around him for a full season and he’ll be the one to get us over the hump you’re kidding yourself.
It’s odd, CR is a poor QB by NFL standards and couldn’t make the practice squad of the Giants yet you are saying the team played lights out in every phase of the game to win those games, the only conclusion you can make is Dak is not a very good leader of the team will not play for him like they do for CR or the team is tired of Dak and his losing ways

Again.

How can you say that and expect to be taken seriously when Cooper Rush is right there to spit in the face of this take?

He says kiss my 5-1 record with the roster you think only Dakky poo can win with.
You honestly think Cooper Rush is a better option than Dak and the Cowboys will have a better chance of winning a championship with him? Anyone who takes you seriously has no clue about football.

I never said the “team” played lights out in every phase of the game when Rush was QB. You might want to read my post again. I said the defense played lights out.

What is the difference, a few games? The end result would be the same. Dak, is not the savior of the Cowboys team. Maybe a less celebrated QB with better intangibles, would galvanize the team.

This fan base has been bashing our QBs ever since Aikman’s last couple of seasons. Good luck finding a QB that’s going to be able to overcome some of the glaring problems we see every season, especially in the playoffs. If anyone thinks this 28 year championship drought is all because of our QBs, you’re completely out of touch with reality and are not a very astute football fan.
While true, the QB'S have not been football generals. He need not be elite, just able to lead a team.

It's a football game, our QB is supposed to respond to the other team scoring. He does the opposite especially in big games against better teams. It is what it is. It isn't rocket science. 8 years and he has gotten WORSE in big games. Who cares what the defense does? It's irrelevant to how bad his play is in these games.
It’s a football game and a team sport and everyone offensively and defensively needs to step up. No one has and it continues to hold us back in the playoffs.

Some people hate Dak so much on a personal level, they fail to see the real problem. As long as the Jones family controls the Cowboys’ front office this team will always under achieve. The problem starts with a family who answers to no one and never has their job on the line running football operations. Patrick Mahomes would fail here. Brady in his prime would fail here.
Great post all true but the Dak haters are so obsessed they can't see any of the other problems the team has.

Anybody who doesn't think the coaching on this team and the way they prepare for the playoffs is a far bigger problem than DAk just doesn't know football.

Anybody that doesn't believe that this front office attention to the running game and stopping the run doesn't have a drastic effect on the outcome of playoff football again just doesn't know football.

Sure Dak is part 2 blame for our playoff failure.
But you can change quarterbacks till you're blue in the face and until you fix the other problems you are still not going to go far in the playoffs unless you happen to draft someone like Brady or mahomes who can overcome coaching Jerry no run defense no running game.

Good luck finding Clark Kent to jump in the phone booth for you before the playoffs start

QB is the most important position by far come playoff time. Teams usually go as their QB's do in the playoffs..that's just the reality of it. Dak doesn't respond well when the Defense looks shaky in ANY game. Romo at least did sometimes.

At least cooper doesn't give the ball to the other team as often as dak and his throws into double and triple coverage thinking he has megatron to catch the ball.

Again you ignore the 5 drives Dallas possessed the ball and came away with a total of THREE points. The defense showed up in the second half, Dallas offense never got off the bus
I haven’t ignored anything. We’ve been over it several times. Here you are still defending the defense.

Agree completely with the first part of your post, but ultimately this team won 12 games last year and 11 of those games the defense allowed 20 points or fewer. There are certainly some exceptions (Seattle game), but typically teams in the NFL still win and lose based on the defenses ability to prevent points and the offenses ability to control the football.

Some fear that losing Dak means an extended period of losing football, but ultimately the goal should be to build a complete team where the QB doesn't have to be superman. Dak or no Dak I just don't think it has nearly the impact that most fans think it does. Hot take here, but I think QB play is vastly overrated in the modern game that favors offenses so much. You put decent talent around the top 20-25 QBs in the league and you'll typically go to the post season. Outside of Mahomes those QB rankings have been very fluid year after year.

Romo never responded in the playoffs any better than Dak which is why we never got any farther with him. At least when we got down by two scores to GB in 2016 Dak rallied us to tie the game late. Our defense lost that game. Anytime we got down by two scores with Romo in the playoffs it led to a blowout. If you put it all on the shoulders of your QB in the playoffs you’re likely going to fail. Even Mahomes failed a few years ago in the SB when it was all put on him. No QB will succeed when their team plays poorly on both sides of the ball.

I dont think it will take that long but as everyone knows, finding a franchise QB is a crapshoot. Luck, really. Its part of the game. Part of the lure, knowing that football not only is a team building sport, its also luck. Like gambling. A+B doesnt always equal C. Sometimes it equals "DOH!"

I think they both suck.

Cooper Rush proved all you "If Dak can't do it nobody can" preachers that you're wrong as usual.
