Possible approaches for fixing team

If we fire Garrett, blow it up. All the players, outside of our all-pro offensive lineman, should have their job's at risk. I'd tell Witten to retire or hit the road, Dez would be on the trade block and if there are no takers I'd release him, Scandrick would be booted, and I wouldn't be against letting Lee go since he simply can't stay healthy. My most controversial move would be throwing Zeke on the trade block and seeing if anyone is dumb enough to throw high picks at us. If the new coach decides to try and develop Dak more, I'd still bring in competition for him in camp - the QB I would look at is Teddy Bridgewater. Bridgewater is a risk due to coming off an injury, but was a former first round pick and I think he would fit a system that a new coach would try to build around Dak.

In the draft, if the coach decides to stick with Dak, gotta go defense. Corner, linebacker, safety, DT - all these positions are open in the first. I won't worry about WR unless there is a Julio Jones type talent when we pick, look at WR in FA or in the second or third round. With how many holes are on our defense, WR simply just can't be a priority.

Once Garrett is fired, and I simply can't see how he will keep his job, we will be in a semi-rebuild mode. We will have question at the QB position if we have a franchise QB or not, a defense with an aging captain, questionable "stud" DE's, and a near non-existent secondary. The only elite player on this team is a RB that found a way to get suspended in his second season. There is no glimmer of hope to "fix" this team we have now, it would need to be a overhaul.

Prepare yourselves, guys. We are about to hit the next dark age in Dallas - but a good pick at HC can speed up the rebuild process. Just got to wait and see, the offseason will be interesting

Jerry has to quit being the black sheep in NFL, otherwise the BS calls/no-calls will never stop. NFL is using this to force people quit supporting Jerry's team.

Fire Garrett and look for a HC that prefers a similar scheme offensively and defensively. Then let the new HC pick his staff. If he doesn't want Dooley, Pollack, Eberflus, etc...then they will be let go as well.

I really don't want to go to a WCO because Dak isn't experienced enough to make the change. And I wouldn't be against Linehan staying as long as we can create an offense that uses Dez more effectively, stops using T-Will altogether and find better ways to use Witten (and move on from Witten) and exploit EE's strengths.

I would still want a 4-3 scheme, but more bracketing and less Cover 2.

We need to be able to move on from Sean Lee. I love the guy, but him getting hurt and our complete dumpster fire of a defense when he gets hurt is unacceptable.

our wr's are not sure handed enough for that and dez cannot run routes precisely.

Agree. And when in the Hell did Dez start this crap of body catching.

To be sure, making that move would require a revamp of the WR corp. to a degree.

the reason is that with zeke gone and wr1 not being wr1, then the offense collapses because the defense can take away dez with single coverage.

but should this really be the case with a quarterback? Shouldn't a QB be able to overcome some of this by being an accurate passer? The offense has looked completely inept without Zeke. I don't feel like that should be the case.

dont think there is a should or should not.
we have what we have.
you put dak with a top rushing attack, you get a dak that plays like a top-5 qb.
you losing the rushing attack, he plays like crap.
you got dak for a 4th, so invest a 2nd or 3rd in a top RB2 who could play like a RB1.

remember how dak played in the 2nd half of the playoff?
like a champ when he had zeke.
made the come back with the necessary rushes and passes.

Only approach is a normal hierarchy.

1.Owner
2. GM
3. Head Coach
4. Assistant coaches
5. Players

1 and 2 cant be the same person. You wind up with zero accountability at position #2. The end result is you can draft risk after risk with premium draft picks without any consequence..ie losing your job, or you can wander thru the NFL wasteland for 2.5 decades without any substantial progress.

well it is not happening, so we make do

I hear ya. I’ve loved this team since I was probably about 8 years old. I’m 47, just so damn frustrated they can’t take a step forward, without taking 5 backwards.

i know how you feel. the first game i watched had rogers' bomb to pearson for the playoff win over the viks.
look at it this way, if they suck every other year, the talent level is kept high because we are drafting high every other year.
key is to take advantage in the good years :lmao:

Dak is going to be alright.
His wheels (WR and RB) came off.

His wheels may have come off, but his windshield is also rather dirty as he can't see downfield very far right now.

How am I doing with the automobile metaphors?

Does anyone know what going on with RUNDMC? Surly he can add something to this stagnate run game.

go rewatch the 4th quarter of the greenbay playoff game.
