...to what end?

Speculative exercise. I call it fantasy. Others call it a tomato.
No matter want you want to label it....the OP diamonddelts' take is -that with a playoff win Sunday - he will rate Prescott as the better Cowboys QB ---IN HIS OPINION.
That's why he created the thread.

Dak has tied Romo's playoff wins in half the number of years. Romo never advanced beyond the division around. If Dak can get one more playoff win and advance to the NFC championship game, the Prescott-Romo debate can be put to bed forever.
How many playoff games would we have lost with Romo at quarterback if the defense had given up just 14 points? Wins and losses are a team statistic no matter how much fans want to make it all about the quarterback.

It was a fantastic game by Dak, so we shouldn't take anything away from his performance. But it takes a team. If our defense had given up 32 points, we'd be in here today complaining about the drives where we didn't score or lamenting our kicker missing four extra points.

Loved Romo. Love Dak.

Yet neither has been "successful" in the playoffs, but most of their lack of success is NOT their fault. Their respective 8/2 and 10/3 playoff TD/Int ratios show that.

Remember, they had PLENTY of help failing to win in the Post Season. Be it OLines not holding up, the D's not stopping opponents, someone not catching good passes, or someone fumbling the ball (outside a FG attempt). We have seen non-QBs be just as impactful to the failures of the the Cowboys Post Season as Romo and/or Dak has been.

Regardless if Dak wins a Super Bowl, or multiple, I still will believe Romo could have won a SB too if it wasn't for things completely out of his control.

And what Dak does will not reduce any love I have/had for Romo.

BOTH are completely underappreciated by their own fan base and I believe BOTH could have / can win a Championship.

JMHO
Yes, but the logic used by the OP, Danny White is a better quarterback than either of them because he had five playoff victories. White also had 15 TDs to 16 interceptions. I know it was a different era, but that's still pretty bad.

the whole premise is crazy, Roger, Danny, Troy, Romo, Dak all played thier hearts out... Some had better teams at times than others but to me all showed they had the goods...winning or losing in the playoffs is more about the team they had generally.

Have always pulled for Dak and was a big supporter of Romo's

But threads like this take away the fun sometimes.
Just silly and brain-dead logic.

By this logic, Mark Sanchez, Brad Johnson, and others were way better than Dak.

Nothing to be gained.
Threads like these make me weekly think about shutting it down here snd going back to a fandom with less divisiveness and simplicity! Seriously I never remember in the 70s, 80s or 90s rooting against a guy or even comparing say Danny White to Staubach. All you wanted was the torch passed and wins. I really think people need to do a reset of their fandom and just decide to cheer and enjoy. I have issues with players/coaches but them taking us to a SB is never something I don’t wish for

...and if someone uses the same criteria as the OP but claims Romo was the better Cowboys quarterback, would that make them "wrong?"

Plus, will anyone mail either man a cookie as a consolation prize for their anointment for being "better" than the other guy? I mean, it would only be right for the guys standing in these fictional spotlights to get something out of it.

Not saying White didn't contribute to the playoff failures, but that was a partly aging Cowboys team, along with Brandt & Landry missing on starting\contribruting players in those 80's drafts.
Those three consecutive NFCCG losses were agony - especially with the first and last one being against division rivals - with the Cowboys playing poorly in those, as opposed to the defeat from the 49ers.

I thought some of White's teams were good enough but he wasn't quite good enough. I think Staubach would have been able to do more with those early '80s teams before we just lost too many of our good players.

But if teams can win Super Bowls with QBs like Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien, Jeff Hostetler, etc., that tells me that we get way too caught up in the QB position. Sure, you stand a better chance of winning a Super Bowl with a great one, but it doesn't have to be all about the QB. Last night wasn't, even though our QB played a great game.

lol.. you cant be serious....
It's clear you're not serious, but yes. Brady, Brees, and Manning in their prime would all eviscerate this league. The NFC in particular is in the worst state it has been in recent memory. Just look at how the Vikings were propped up by how bad the league is right now.

It's been a long time so perhaps my memory of White's play is tainted, but I feel like there were times when the team was good enough in the playoffs and White wasn't.

So 2 QB's who both won 1 ring and the GOAT who is still playing? or are you talking about Eli who actually won 2 rings?

Truth is Roger and Troy are probably better than the rest but they FOR SURE had better teams than the others...those 2 had defenses that were truly legit no matter the competition.

Lol.....instead of clarifying your romo defenses statement you get all mad.
I didn't get mad lol. I already know the type of poster you are lol. You consistently make statements you claim I say and then I ask you to prove I said it and you never do. All I ask is prove what you say.

Manning had one SB in the prime of his career. Brees got one in the prime of his career. Its not anymore watered down now than it was back then. You are talking like Romo played in the 90's lol. Stop it.

When Dak took over for Romo I was sick. To this day I think it was a bad move and I think Romo would have beat Aaron Rogers in that Playoff game. But my team wanted to move forward with Dak and

Tony's body was breaking down So I accepted it. I was and remain one of the biggest TONY ROMO Supporters.

Tell you what

Dandy Don Meredith, Roger Staubach, Danny White, Troy Aikman, Tony Romo, and Dak's book hasn't been written yet

I saw a post on here that said Dak doesn't have a legacy, they're absolutely right, He's part of a legacy. A Damned great one

One step closer,

Let's get that win Sunday

Nothing to do with anything. Its not like they were playing people in the league now.
