What's that got to do with how Dak is playing?

Dak is an issue. The fact Jerry is the one who brought him here or extended him doesn't change the fact that he's here and yet he's seemingly not good enough. Him not being good enough isn't Jerry's fault. What's Jerry's fault is if he fails to realize it and continues on with Dak for 4-5 more years.
Dak has been here 8 years....it doesn't take 8 years to realize a person isn't the guy.

Probably not.

Jerry is a delusional old fool who struggles to admit mistakes.

So Dak is back for sure. Now will McCarthy be back? I suspect so but honestly, who knows at this point.
What those bumbling Jones boys do is anyone’s guess.

You’re likely right about Trey Lance. But if the Cowboys can finagle the 8th and 43rd pick from Atlanta for Dak - which is more than reasonable, that gives them the 8th, 24th, 43rd and 56th picks in the draft. Even trading Lance for Minnesota’s 2nd or 3rs round pick would be an improvement on the Cowboys’ 4th round pick they traded away to get Lance.

That gives them 6 picks in the top 88. If Chicago is open to a trade for the #1 pick because they like Fields, then put a package together, and go get Caleb Williams or Drake May. If the Cowboys are willing to trade Parsons, who doesn’t seem to have any loyalty to the Cowboys, they can get even more top picks. It is doable - if the Cowboys commit.
This is exactly the type of bold decision making that can transform the team.

Blank ain’t trading for Dak, he may had been born at night but it wasn’t last night.
Blank will do whatever Belichick tells him to do. Dak had his best year as a rookie with a top RB. He’d have that in Atlanta. Like another said, Belichick would likely rather have a proven veteran rather than another rookie like Mac Jones. Dak would be more than he could get anywhere else.

Not many QBs have won their 1st Superbowl after 8 years in the league. Only 4 QBs in the last 30 years have done it:

John Elway (Broncos) - Legendary QB with 1 of the best rosters and coaching staff

Trent Dilfer (Ravens) - benefited from playing with the most dominant defense in league history

Brad Johnson (Bucs) - played with one of the elite defensive units in the league (Tampa 2)

Drew Brees (Saints) - Legendary QB with a great coaching staff

Dak could only win a Superbowl if we had an elite level defense that limits teams under 20 points in the playoffs and even if it did Dak would lose it (SF playoff games).

Bottom line is that the Cowboys have some premium assets they can trade and get premium compensation in return. They had the league’s leading rushers from 1988 when runners still commanded value. Jimmy was bold enough to trade Walker for draft picks. He was their best player. 3 seasons later, they won their first of 3 Super Bowls under Jerry Jones.

Someone needs to bend Jerry’s ear, and let him know it is time to do it again. The Cowboys could stockpile 6-9 1st and 2nd day draft picks over the next 3 drafts if they trade Dak, Micah and Trey Lance. 3-4 picks for Dak, 3-4 picks for Micah, and at least a 3rd round pick, or higher 4th round pick for Lance. Use those assets to go get a premium QB from this draft, which is better than last year’s crop of QB prospects. Then, retool the defensive front 7, and rebuild the Oline for when Tyron and Zack are gone.

Get it done Jerry.

Belichick’s window is small. He’s 72 years old, and he wants Shula’s record more than he wants another Super Bowl win. With the rest of their roster, Dak can get him that record in the next two seasons. They can manipulate their Cap space to extend Dak, and the Cowboys take the hit this year for his past bonuses. I would ask for their #1&2 picks in 2024, and another #2 pick in 2025. Then trade Trey Lance to the Vikings for the #11 pick.

Then the Cowboys can trade the #8, #11 and #56 pick to Chicago, and keep the #24 and #43 pick in 2024, plus have two #2 picks in the 2025 draft.

Time to start again for the Cowboys.

This would also likely mean that McCarthy gets dumped, and the Cowboys start over with a new coaching staff. If they can get Jim Harbaugh to come to Dallas, and give him a clean slate, he just might go for that.

I would also consider trading Micah Parsons if someone wants to back up the draft pick Brinks truck. If the Cowboys make the commitment to rebuild, might as well go all in. Jerry did it before when he traded away Herschel Walker. Why not do it again?

Would not have a problem with any of this.

No one is giving up any pick for Dak. Cowboys will have to throw in a high pick for someone to take on his salary, thats assuming Dak waives his no trade rights. Best option is make Dak a post June cut and split the cap hit. The most valuable player on any team is a good QB on a rookie contract.

Dak did not lose us this game but he did not help win it either. This game is on the Defense.

Dak has a no trade clause. They would have to sign him to a new contract that doesn't have the clause and trade him than.
Your not getting a high first for Dak.

Can’t he waive his no trade clause? I saw that mentioned somewhere.

Look I expect Dak to be back next season, but don't extend him, put pressure on him. Make training camp a competition between him and Lance, but don't reward him after the failure we just had.
The pressure to get to him when the stakes are high.

Dak is a really good qb, but for a multitude of reasons, he absolutely sucks in the playoffs, really one great game vs the bucs, he did not have the oline to blame for his performance. I will say I don't think Cooks is a great 2, our franchise is stupid, but whatever.

This is a ridiculous take.

Any team taking on Dak in a trade gets a QB that isn’t even a top ten paid QB in 2024.
