I don't think ANY of them are very good this year, even Winston and Mariaotta

I would agree none are day 1 ready, I do think there are some guys who going to the right system and given time could very well develop into quality QB

Austin Davis

Will be 28-29 by the time Romo retires, then we can have him take over for a nice 5 year run

I was really impressed with this kid. I have no idea why the Rams benched him as well. They should have let him play out the year and work through the growing pains.

Draft one after Romo retires.

Then all the investment in the OLine...and the upcoming improvements in the Defense are are waste......need to sync things up with capable indiv. especially at the QB, cant risk missing on a QB after Romo, or taking the time to develop....all of a sudden Tron is at the end of his dominance and have to start over there.
****
D.Vaughn gets my interest......I know the team can only have so much contact with him during the offseason via OTA's........are there private run QB "clinics" this kid could go to to accelerate his development......You'd think having him, Street and Escobar working together all summer would pay tremendous returns.

I think both of those guys have a lot of natural ability. I think those two have more upside then Bortles and Manziel.

Mariotta much more than Winston IMO because he seems to have a better head on his shoulders.

I agree about the head part but I think if Winston can grow up I think he can become a great QB. I would be very leery of investing a 1st rd on him because I question his ability as a leader. Skill wise I see a very sound ball player

CANNOT rely on weeden
I would sign Mark Sanchez as the back up, I think that with our run game and improved defense next year he can win us a game or 2 if needed

Is Sean Mannion or Bryce Petty are available in the later rounds I would snatch them up.

This. QB's are expected to start right away now. Drafting one now is a waste of a pick.

Exactly this.

In the last 20 years franchise type QB's found outside the first round are Russell Wilson (3rd), Tom Brady (6th), and Tony Romo (UDFA) along with Drew Brees who was taken with the first pick of the 2nd round.

The idea of using a mid to late round pick in the hopes of developing the next franchise QB is pretty much a futile effort. The upside of those types of QBs are the likes of Henne, Orton, Fitzpatrick, Schaub, Bulger, Brooks, Griese, Hasselbeck.

So the only question to be asked in my opinion is, Do you want to use a 1st round pick on a QB now while Romo is still playing or do you want to use that pick on a player that will actually get on the field? Seems like an easy answer to me.

People say, in today's NFL, that you can no longer draft a QB like GB did and let him sit for 2-3 years.

I'm kinda wondering 'Why Not?'

The salary cap impact certainly isn't what is was before the rookie salary slotting was implemented.

Exactly it is the lower rookie salary that makes it worth the wild. I see some young QB who get tossed on the field day 1 who are just not ready and by the time they get beat up and ridiculed they are pretty much toast at that point. I think having a QB who can sit back and learn have a full grasp of the system before going in has a better chance of success.

I see Vaughn as a poor mans Flacco.......... maybe... similar builds.

Didn't realize he is 6' 5" ... That's one advantage right there if he has some good lateral movement skills. Both Flacco and Eli ( forget the ints) do just enough to avoid being sacked many times
