It just got redone after winning the super bowl. So that might be quite a while down the road.
They restructured it to free up cap space to sign players.

That's what you can do when you sign a team friendly deal. Keep a super bowl contender around you.

Cost? All they did was win another Super Bowl their first year without him.

No team can pay everyone. Knowing who to pay, and not to pay, is where the cream rises to the top.
Yeah, they did win the Super Bowl without him but they would be even dynamic with him. It did take everything the Chiefs had to squeak by Philly. It may not have been as tough if they had Hill. He is a tremendous weapon/playmaker. He had just over 1700 yards last season minus Tua for a few games. He could have put up 2000 yards and 15+ TDs with Mahomes.

Lol. Nobody is “worried” or losing sleep over the next man’s contract.

What I will 100% bet you is that when it’s Mahomes time to get paid again he’ll ask for and receive the largest contact in the league.

It’s the GM’s literal job to work the cap and make a roster. 99% of players will ask for market value. Tom Brady/Giselle only comes around once in a lifetime.

Burrow said something similar two weeks ago. It’s now being reported he will be the highest paid. Who the heck would actually answer this question with “nah man, makes me so mad when another Qb signs a deal.”
He's signed through 2031 at around $50m/year. The numbers look big, but we're already seeing far lesser players like Watson, Jackson, and Hurts signing comparable, if not more lucrative deals that provide less flexibility for the team due to their shorter terms. He did a huge solid for the Chiefs.

Mahomes is the best QB in the NFL and he has this attitude. Dak probably isn't top 10 and has the opposite approach.

@Hardline you were looking for Dak Haters???? Get in this Thread!!!:flagwave:

I think what's funny here is people think these comments mean he's not going to get every dollar he can lol. When eh signed his contract he was the highest paid QB in the league. The reason he is not is because people came after him. To pretend like Dak is selfish and he's not is a joke in itself.
Mahomes took a very team friendly deal, 10 years @ 50 mil a year. A big part of what makes it good for KC is the length, which allows them to move the $
around to have some cheap years when they need it.
also he will be still making 50 mil 5-10 years from now when other teams are paying their qb's way more than that.

Dak refused a 6 year deal and demanded a 4 year deal, so he could get more per year at the end of the short 4 year deal.
4 year deal wasnt team friendly.

KC was smart, and so was mahomes with the 10 year deal.

mahomes wants to surpass brady and his 6 or 7 rings , and that 10 year deal will help KC have a good shot at surpassing NE and Brady.

Why didn’t Mahomes take less so they could give Tyreke Hill more? He took a long term deal because he could. Mahomes is the best quarterback in the league. For everyone else thst 10 year deal is nothing. For him? He will see all 10 years and get extended.

Mahomes knows if he keeps playing like he is, his salary is going to climb. He just got more of the non-guaranteed money on his present contract paid to him after the SB.

One thing some need to consider is the QB position is like no other in all sports because one wins in negotiations, all win. That's what Cousins', Prescott's and Watson's deals were all about. They birth subsequent negotiations that even mid-level QB's benefited from and will continue to do so.

The Joneses aren't the only owners that blink negotiating with QB agents. Didn't BAL talk tough about Jackson?

The NFL, through rule changes, decided to make the QB position even more critical to a team and then doubled down by blinking with most of the QB negotiations.

As far as Prescott is concerned, I don't think the large majority of fans care how much he makes or equates that to anything along the lines of the team's success.

It's pretty ridiculous to expect Dak to do what nobody else does. Nobody volunteers to take a pay cut in the middle of a contract.
Well, then, let's keep overpaying for QB while others positions of need get affected.

Maybe it was Hill who wanted too much. Have you considered that?

That's Jerry's fault, not Dak's.
That's why I'm saying Dak shouldn't continue to be overpaid. Everyone knows his agent is going to demand $48+ million/year for an extension. You're ok with paying him that much more? This won't stop until Jerry stops it. Until then, good luck trying to keep other key playmakers.

I don’t think anyone blames radio for what he’s gotten. He landed in a perfect situation with very stupid and petulant ownership who gave him more than he’s ever considered being worth. No doubt that it’s important to keep in mind that he didn’t sign the contract nor does Dak take football that seriously. Now that he’s lost his bf zeke, should be interesting to watch him in times of adversity without his wingman taking all the media smoke for him. Now it’s truly the Dak show and we all know exactly how that ends.

The best part of this site is following the Dak boyz tread water for him like he’s anything other than a 6th round pick who has gotten generational money. If Dak wasn’t half-black, he would be laughed at by 99% of the fanbase and not just 60% of it.

The only thing that Mahomes and Dak have in common is they both throw a ball for a living. Mahomes is intelligent, charismatic and thrives in intense situations that matter. Our guy craps his pants when he playing the Commanders let alone big games.

KC's D was 11th. Keeping a decent D together is much more important than one WR.

Mahomes did take less than he could've gotten.
