She is playing a role in movies like "Bringing Down the House".
Exactly, a stereotype that Hollywood always seems to perpetuate.
Seriously, any African American on film has to be this emotional, loud type of person unless they are in a high paid job surrounded by white people. I chat a little bit with a black security guard who comes into my work, and he speaks perfectly normal with no histrionics. My black basketball coaches in high school all conducted themselves in the same way. And they were in their mid-late 20s.
There are other stereotypes too out there where the matronly black women is tread around with in fear, or else she'll whup your skinny behind.
