Interesting article. I read it and it's pretty clear, you have issue running a Tampa2 if you don't have a MLB that can run like the wind. It goes on to say that you can't play it if you don't have this athlete, you can't play a Tampa2. Also, in a Tampa2 scheme, it relies on maximum pressure from 4 down lineman while your LB and DBs have strict coverage responsabilities. No bliting. We clearly were not in a Tampa2 because we ran a 3 man line with LBs lined up in coverage. I would agree that most teams run a Cover2 but I don't believe most teams run a Tampa2 simply because of the speed needed at ILB or MLB. I can not prove this because I do not have enough knowledge of exactly what is run on all teams but stands to reason that you can't run a Tampa2 without a superior athlete that can play center field against speed.
