In some ways QC reminds me of an old joke/story. Please note that I heard this story YEARS ago and it does not have anything to do with Hurricane Katrina..this is just a joke/story that reminds me of people who get chance after chance but just don't seem to get it.

It was being reported on the news that there was a huge storm coming and people should leave because there would be flooding.

A Sheriff came up to Roger's house and said. Roger I know you don't have much and your car is not running but if you need a ride I can give you one so you won't be here during the flood.

Roger replies that he knows he does not have much but his old two story house and his faith. He thanks the Sheriff for the offer and concern but tells him that he puts his faith in the Lord and that the Lord will see him through.

Well the storm starts and the water starts to rise. It is not too deep but still too deep for a normal car to go through. However Roger's neighbor down the road has a truck that is jacked up and those large tires on them so he can still drive through the water at that time.

So his neighbor stops by and asks Roger if he needs a ride out because it keeps getting worse and worse. Roger thanks him for the offer but again says that he has faith in the Lord to see him through.

A few more hours go by and Roger has had to go to the second story of his house as the ground floor is filling up with water. Roger is sitting by his window when he sees a motor boat coming up to his window.

It is Joe, Roger's fishing buddy, and Joe tells Roger to jump into the boat and he will give him a ride to safety. Roger thanks Joe for the offer but says he has faith in the Lord to see him through. Joe asks again but Roger says he is staying so Joe goes on his way.

A few more hours pass and Roger finds himself on his roof with the water closing in. Roger hears a noise and looks up to see a helicopter approaching.

The helicopter hovers directly above Roger and he hears a man with a bullhorn saying they are going to lower a ladder. They tell him to get on the ladder and up in the helicopter so they can take him to safety.

Roger thanks the men but tells them that he has faith in his Lord to see him through.

The helicopter leaves after some time of pleading with Roger.

An hour later Roger wakes up in heaven. The Lord is standing next to Roger and he says Welcome to heaven Roger.

Roger's eyes are full of amazement but also questioning. The Lord says what is wrong Roger you look like you have something to ask me.

He says Lord I just don't understand. Understand what says the Lord.

Roger says Lord I have never really had much in my life but my faith. I have always put my life in your hands and thought that you would have saved me from the flood. I just don't understand why you would let me die.

The Lord says Roger I sent a Sheriff with an offer for a ride, your neighbor in a truck with an offer for a ride, your fishing buddy in a boat with an offer for a ride and finally a Helicopter with an offer for a ride. I tried FOUR times to save you but you turned them down each time.

========

When I think of QC I think of that joke/story.

Well, I don't know...

Rafael Septien is an ex-Cowboy who got in trouble and you don't see very many pity totems being raised in tribute to him.

Quincy Carter captured the hearts of some Cowboy fans with a zeal that I haven't seen since the Charles Manson days. I don't get it.

Then again, I don't get the unfettered adulation for Owens either...

Rafael Septien is a child molester...

Carter smoked pot.....damn....

I guess u should put Stepnoski (sp?) on ur hatred list...along with Nate..Irvin..Hollywood..Hayes...etc...

Do u realize how many people smoke pot these days?

I smoke it occasionally....does that make me unforgiveable? a pity seeker?

Its ok to wish someone success.....even a pot head.

Why do we post on these message boards.

To discuss a common interest?

..we should all be somewhere helping the poor.....the sick...the needy...

IF THATS WHAT YOU THINK IS RIGHT??

Why do we spend our money on material things like....big screen TV's...Cowboys gear...tickets...etc....
WE WORK HARD AND TRY AND TRY TOO BE GOOD CITIZENS AND THESE THINGS YOU MENTIONED MAKE US HAPPY...(we should all donate that to the poor.) WELL CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME

Why should we feel the need to feel sorry for a former player...even if it was his fault.....why?

WHY NOT, IT DOESN'T COST US ANYTHING TO FEEL DOES IT, IT MAKES US VULNERABLE PERHAPS, SOME PEOPLE TAKE IT AS A SIGN OF WEAKNESS?
I DON'T KNOW YOU HAVE TO ASK YOURSELF. WHY SOME LIKE TO SEE OTHERS IN PAIN AND WHY OTHERS FEEL PITY

because were human?.....

Its OK to feel sorry for someone that has done nothing but damage themselves....its really ok....some opinions here are different....we all have a different outlook....nothing wrong with that.

100%

I too hope Carter succeeds in life....and he should get as many chances as he can get.....the only damage he has done is too himself....no one else....

Oh I don't know I think Jerry and big Bill..wouldnt think so, but I don't want to put words in there mouth

and its OK to take time in our daily routine to post on a message board and wish a former player success......even with all the tragedy in this world..

were doomed anyways!

I must be on one hell of a pity parade....because Carter isn't the only one I wish to succeed

You know its not that big a deal but then again there seems to be alot of people checking out this lttle QC thread.

When interviewed, Stepnoski gave straight answers about his weed use.

When Newton went to jail, he didn't say that, "It was someone else's weed".

Hollywood didn't get a...

And Hayes may have messed with weed, but he revolutionized the NFL. You would think that Hayes would be the first and only person Quincy Carter fans would mention out of respect since Carter didn't accomplish a tenth of what Hayes did, but does he? Nah.

And just how many pot smokers other than Carter have you mentioned in your posts on this forum? One? Two?

Get real. It's a Quincy Carter world for some.

People forgave Carter years ago. What's strange is that his unquestionable fans cannot do the same and FORGET him. There is an old saying that says, "Forgive AND forget". Embrace it.

It's also okay to stop worrying about someone who could care less about your "wishes of success". Duh.

Man with integrity over here "excuse me for being human" and showing compassion for a old Cowboy QB Thats right he played QB for us - Thats one thing that will never go away, his failure is there failure- anyway you want to put it Jerry drafted him and stuck with him for how many years?

QC is a grown man not a little child who does not know better, he made his choice and has no one to blame but himself. If you want to cry over him be my guest but I believe in personal responsibility. I don't care if he played QB for the Cowboys or was a burger flipper we all make our own choices in life.

You're a little late.

Trust me, there is a much longer tirade from me about my views on Owens from farther back, but I wasn't able to locate it immediately. I'll try to find the link later today for your reading enjoyment. :)

Odd...it would seem that you imply that it is a black and white world.

The point of the story is that no matter how much a person believes in something if they spurn the things right in front of their face they will miss out.

QC is doing that by staying in denial.

He had troubles in college, troubles with the Cowboys, troubles with the Jets, troubles with the CFL and now he is doing good in the AFL2 but still does not seem to get it.

There are people in the world who are lucky to get a second chance, let alone 4-5 chances.

Hey good luck to the guy but I have no sympathy or empathy for a guy that is given chance after chance but does not seem to take advantage of it. It might be different if he was a relative or loved one but he is not. He is just some guy that had the world at his fingertips and let it slide out multiple times.

Never said otherwise, its his decision to smoke and get caught

If you want to cry over him be my guest

Never cried over him just said I felt bad for him.

Give me a break this whine fest for Carter is pathetic, he is an adult and made his choice. I keep hearing weed is no big deal by many around here well it must be a big deal for some if they are willing to throw away millions for something that is no big deal. As far as hoping I don't have children, Carter is not a child there is a difference he is a grown man capable like any adult to make his choices. He has been give chance after chance after chance and he keeps blowing it. No I don't cry for him nor do I feel sorry for him.

And thats the reason I have empathy toward him not pity, And then again we don't know how or if he is getting help, I'm not going to judge him by that interview, Yes he does have a history of drug abuse if you want to call it that, So hopefully he can realize his situation and make up for his past, Or maybe he will find G-d and that will make it all better just like Cornelius Bennett who raped a woman and found G-d. So that made it OK ( Scum bag should have been thrown out of the NFL ) But hey I don't live my life in hypocrisy Like others.

If you had an infant who was crying, would you first reach for a pacifier or a roach to relax him?

You can call Carter if you need a lifeline.
