My Mom lived across the street from the great Harley Race. She didn't really know him, but my grandpa did I guess. Everyone says he was a flat out bad mudda.

I lived in Charlotte, NC for a while and I saw Ric Flair a few times. He was every bit the rich man he claimed, but really good to people.

I got to meet Randy Savage at a local radio station here. I spoofed hsi voice for ads for them. I got to spoof him with him critiquing it and he said it was the best he'd ever heard. Dude, was so fun. He absolutely hated Hogan at the time. He was promoting a rap album he did and there was a song about Hogan on it. We asked him who the best was and he said Curt Hennig.

My favorite comment he made though was about doing the movie Spiderman. My DJ buddy asked him what he would remember most. Hear hsi voice in your head as you read this.

"I had me a little carnal knowledge of Kirsten Dunst in her trailer."

One of my favorite wrestling memories was back when Lex Luger was wrestling as 'The Narcissist" and Bobby Heenan was his manager. I had found a website with all of these guys real names and my fried Joe and I had 4th row aisle seats. Luger's real name is Lawrence Pfohl or something like that. So as he's coming down the aisle we're yelling at him, "Larry! Larry! It's Mike and Joe form High Sshool."

He got all excited and said hello. After the match he came by and was like, "what are you guys doing in Arizona?" We told him to say hi to his folks for us. He said he would. All around us people were asking, "you went to school with him?" Nope. We didn't even go to school together. I am sure he was back in the dressing thinking, "who the hell were those idiots?"

We tried the same scam on Taker. He just rolled his eyes back in his head like he does.

Luger was on the last Memphis Showboats team. As far as I know he never got on the field. :laugh2:

Lawler went to the same HS I did and my uncle said they used to slap him him around. :laugh2:

I was mainly speaking towards the people who still believe it's real and have no issue with the human body continually popping back up after that kind of "beating". They are the pathetic ones.

I think of people who watch it for pure entertainment the same way I think of people who watch Glee and Big Brother. It's just mindless television, but enough peple are into it that it makes it lucrative. There's such a small sample of good TV left that I guess I don't blame them.

The funny thing is that Dwayne Johnson (I refuse to call him "The Rock") is actually a good actor. Some of his movies are pretty good and he is a showman. I think it's a damn shame that somebody like that feels like hew has to be defined by his wrestling persona when he could be so much more.

Wow.. lol.

Go ahead.. preach some more from up there on your throne bud. :laugh2:

Tell us how we're all mindless morons and set us straight with your wisdom, please?

TNA's financial backers, Panda Energy is actually worth a ton more than WWE. AJ has improved on the mic immensely, and is entertaining on he mic. His promos > Miz's promos.

He has?

I guess to AJ Styles fan boys he probably has. To people who aren't riding his jock trying to make him out to be more than he is, he hasn't improved at all on the mic.

Great in-ring performer who has zero mic ability and no charisma when talking on one.

I remember Jarrett in the WWE. He was a guitar wielding clown calling himself Double J.

"That's J E Double F. J A Double R E Double T. Double J haha."

He is beyond boring.

I can't pinpoint what it is about AJ Styles other than he doesn't sell me that he is a winner. There's nothing remarkable about the guy. I feel that he is a far worse push that the Miz. I never would have made a guy like that Champion unless it was one time while he was a face beating the odds. I just don't buy him as a main event guy.

I've seen several of his "great matches" and I see a guy who cannot stand in the shadow of someone like Christian, and I'm not really a fan of his except as a tag partner with Edge.

Edge is one of my favorites btw. I think he is great as a heel or a face. Orton is the one I think is best right now, but in the ring. On the mike, he is okay, but where he shines is in a fight.

All excellent points.

Hostile;3888865 said:
The fans react to Miz. In other words, he is selling.

If R2A were a booker, he'd be pushing Miz too right now. Heels draw money just as much as faces do.

Agreed. I think heels really do the vast majority of the draw, if you ask me, cause they're the reason the fans want to see the face prevail.

That's what made Ric Flair so great back in the day. He could just absolutely make you hate him.

A Wrestlemania without Shawn Michaels is missing something, that being a 5 star in ring performance. I would salivate over a Michaels v. Bryan or a Michaels v. Morrison match.

HHH vs. Taker has the potential to be damned good. HHH, with a solid partner like Taker, is capable of having fantastic matches. Hell he's capable of it even with people who suck if he really wants to.

It won't be as great as these last two years with Michaels but then again absolutely no one on the planet can follow up a Shawn Michaels performance. It's why he's the best of all time.

Taker and HhH is good, del joke and miz are Horid.

Christian is main event material, he's got the look, the charisma and he's good in the ring. Deserves it 1000x more than del joke and miz

I agree with you on Christian. I'm a big fan.

I personally find few things more pathetic than grown men who watch wrestling for any reason other than to get insight into the lowest tier of American society. NASCAR and Jerry Springer send the WWE Christmas cards every year thanking them for making their fans look better.

Seriously, wrestling is a phase young boys go through around the time they discover women and R-rated movies. I know adults who still think it's real and try and defend that position, and it's the saddest, most pathetic thing you'll ever see. It makes you wonder how they dress themselves every morning.

I have to give the actual wrestlers and promoters credit though. They have discovered their niche and exploit it brilliantly. Listening to some of them talk off stage about what they think of their fans is pretty damning, though. They know exactly what they're doing.

Ummm...ok. You mad or something?

Part of the problem with AJ on the mic is the horrible writing on TNA...when Flair first got there they tried to make AJ "Ric II" and acting wise he just couldn't carry it out.

I dunno..to me wrestling is easy to figure out. The guys that have great mic skills you put on the mic; the ones that don't you don't.

AJ would fall into the "don't" category.

I still think he's a good wrestler though; not great but he's really good. They don't need to make his job harder than it already is.

I actually think AJ is pretty decent on the mic. He's got the intensity and the persona.. like you said though some of the writing in TNA with Russo there is bad though, so it takes away from his promos. Russo is a cancer who will only bring down TNA if they don't can him soon. TNA was really great when it first started up, i loved the product. Now it seems to be going downhill, same as the WWE.

BTW.. for all who love Miz, did anyone watch Raw tonight? Tell me you watched all those big starts and didn't roll your eyes when Miz music played and that little scrawny goofball came out and tried to actually fit in. Honestly.. come on.

HHH. Taker. Orten. The Heartbreak Kid. Cena. The Friggin Rock.

Miz? Nah.. Shameus should be the future of the company right now.

The HHH, Taker, and HBK stuff was more interesting than the entire TNA program.

So glad LOD is going into the HOF.

Like i said, the company relies on bringing back old guys and celebrities to get big draws anymore.

That Raw segment was simply amazing. Some of that footage was unbelievable from back in the day. Great great stuff.

Sheamus certainly is a better choice than the Miz or Alberto Del Joke.

Last night showed how worlds apart WWE and tna are in terms of writing, production value, and talent.

3 great segments setting up the three main events at Wrestlemania.

Actually, this is a WrestleMania I would like to watch. Anybody know where it might be showing (a bar perhaps?) in the DFW area?

My wife asked me if I wanted to get it. I said yes but there isn't any way I will have 4 hours to sit there and do nothing but watch TV Sunday night. I'll catch updates on the interwebs as it starts to wind down. Better yet, we have a Wrestlemania thread going like we do a Cowboy game thread. :)

Not completely true. There were no 90 second championship matches. No double count outs.

fairly irrelevant no? the guys responds to a comment saying that it was better than tna programming by pointing out it was also better than the standard wwe programming. i'd say thats a fair comment, enjoyed raw last night more than i have in a while (really intrigued to see what role shawn has sunday, given me hope miz might win and anytime they give punk mic time i'm happy) but rather than acknowledge the fact that it was a better than average show as opposed to the standard you choose to take it as a criticism and have a shot at tna?

True. But we need to see some development in the characters like Sheamus, John Morrison, Orton, CM Punk and Cena.

Apparently Cena will be a heel soon and Rock/Morrison and Orton will be the biggest faces.

They better make it so HHH is back wrestling, Sheamus becomes the top heel and Orton becomes a champion. The Miz just needs his arse kicked IMO.

Sheamus has very bad mic skills...it's the accent I think..he needs work doing all that and they've tried with all that (remember "King" Sheamus which they thankfully have dropped cause it was going over like a lead balloon). He's got alot of talent though. Just needs some polish.

Morrison..the same. Gets flustered on the mic but he's a massive wrestling talent.

Orton..I would put the company on his back and ride with it. He's the best on WWE right now to me.

Punk..dude just keeps getting better all the time as a heel. I really like that guy.

Cena...ugh..I hate his act but he's the one that sells tshirts. As long as he stays healthy he'll get huge pushes.

HHH has been hurt and is near the end of the road..I think as he gets more and more involved backstage his ring work will just fade away. He'll always be around but not wrestling.

I was thinking watching Rock last night that even when he was a heel he got huge crowd pop. Rock is the most charismatic wrestler I've ever seen. People just love him.

next years wrestlemania should be headlined by a heel Cena vs a face Orton, with Orton coming out on top and them progressing to him as the face of the company.

I'd personally love a Cena v. Orton feud that unites the world titles, with 1 world title it would add so much more legitimacy to it.

He has also been saying that TNA is a better product. Last night a draw show was better than a TNA pay per view. Tell me how in the world TNA can be a better product based upon that alone.

Look, both federations or alliances or whatever they are are bringing back old guys to try and push the show. WWE is just bringing back better old guys. Know why? Because they can.

I was a diehard WCW guy. I should like TNA better. I don't. It is not as good as WWE. That is my opinion and I am entitled to it.
