The Ram own the most dominate defender in the league in Aaron Donald, they have a veteran QB tossing the ball to the number one offensive threat in the NFL in Cooper Kupp, nothing lucky about it.
These things that you speak of are what made the slight difference. It was just enough.

Look how close they came. Even moderate improvement on that line and they probably win. With the amount of cap space they have, there is no reason at all that they cannot improve that line significantly in the off season.

They can improve but Kansas City and Buffalo are the cream of the crop in the AFC. Cincinnati beat a lot of odds having to come from behind to win games during the playoffs.

Anyone that says the Rams got lucky is just exhibiting sour grapes. They earned their SB win. As good as the best teams are, it takes a degree of luck to win it all. That would be true of any team today. ;)

I mean hats off to them still they got the ring, but their team didn't really look unbeatable and looked like any other good team this year.
49ers should have beat them in the NFC Championship and the Bengals got a terrible call against them that would have made it 4th and goal from the 10 on their final drive.
A few things went there way and that's why their Super bowl Champs.

The trades helped make them better but they got lucky.

Not a conspiracy theorist but it felt like the NFL wanted the Rams to go far this year so that they could succeed in Los Angeles.

Those who think that is the model to follow in order to win a Championship are mistaken.

Making super bold, daring trades, big name FA signings and major contract re-signed extensions, cutting loose declining high paid starters or sacrificing multiple high 1st rd picks
- and then performing in the playoffs when all the stakes, all the season lifeline is on the line, when it matters most ... is Not being " lucky" imo.

- The word is more very high risky gambling,... and like it or not it's a high strategic decision making.

The Rams even dare to trade away their then franchise starting QB, ..for a older, seasoned vet QB in Stafford, whose never had playoff success in his NFL career,
It was the ultimate Wow move, .. trading for Jalen Ramsey, ..trading for Von Miller, .picking up OJ Beckham off the street post-waivers ,..

Now even with all of these stellar names, you still have to have coaching direction mixed into this, ..the schemes,.. the discipline.., in-game adjustments, all areas performing on all
cyclinders. including special teams.

I love that saying "you make your own luck".

Did Stafford make his own luck throwing it into the defenders hands at the end of the SF game when he dropped the easy pick? Did he have some magical voodoo spin on the ball?

Yeah sounds like a lot of sour grapes and jealousy in this thread. And if you subscribe to this lame theory, then you must also believe that the Cowboys have been "unlucky" for the past 26 years. Hmm...what are the odds?

The only thing the Rams got lucky with was facing the Bengals who no one expected to reach the Super Bowl when the playoffs started. It may take another 30 years for the Bengals to get back to the Super Bowl.

A dropped int. By Tart, a questionable holding call

The Rams had things go against them. Stafford had 2 INT’s in the Super Bowl and Jalen Ramsey was face-masked on a big play he gave up. That was clearly an offensive PI. Saw a couple of fans on this board trying to spin the league had it all planned for the Rams to win the Super Bowl. Some think all the games are predetermined.

Probably did make his own luck when he became the first QB ever to have 3 TDs in 4 straight playoff games!

wrong. it wasn't luck. it was risks they took. they also were aggressive in going after Miller and OBJ. the biggest risk, calculated risk was trading multiple first rounders for Stafford. so it turns out they were right.

you could make the case of conspiracy for/against any of the teams in the playoffs making the superbowl and winning it.

See, that is not luck. There were no lucky receptions, no helmet catches, those TD's were skill but he also got a bit lucky. Eli won 1 Super Bowl with luck!

Yep. They followed that model and won the Super Bowl. So it follows just logically it can't be a successful model.

Is that "YOU", Jerry?

If you're saying every team has some luck on their way to a Super Bowl, I agree!
Some more than others. For example, we've never seen a helmet catch like that in a Super Bowl game since then (or before then) Outerwordly, lucky for Eli throwing up a prayer and having it answered.

No doubt that the dropped int vs SF was good fortune or luck for the Rams....
just as the two dropped ints (and one pick 6) by the Rams and also the dropped TD pass by the Rams were fortunate for the 49ers in that game.

I'd say the 49ers were actually the more lucky team in that game, overall. Just not quite lucky enough

Yeah the Rams got lucky…but they didn’t kill themselves either with terrible mistakes…like 14 penalties. They got the benefit of some questionable calls at the end and got lucky with a matchup against the Bengals instead of KC or Buffalo, both of whom I think would’ve throttled them. Donald was offsides on the last play…Bengals couldn’t give Burrow more than 0.005 seconds to throw…just worked out for them. People now saying Stafford is some kind of elite QB now though is silly. He’s upper tier but just barely managed to not lose the game.
That said, really glad they won it over SF and Brady.
