I meant to bring this up earlier and spaced it. For those that watched Top Gun: Maverik, I feel like they missed an excellent opportunity.....................

on the last scene. When Maverik goes over to his love interest and they are standing against her Porsche kissing, I totally feel like that scene should have been playing Berlin - Take My Breath Away. I understand you have to have licensing/permission/etc to use music in movies, but I feel like they could have received that. Take My Breath Away and Danger Zone are synonymous with Top Gun! Anyway, my only small little gripe about the movie, but I think that song would have made for the perfect ending sequence and vibe.

I don't care who the "name" artist is, that they bring in to do a track for a movie. Either the track works very well, or it doesn't. The gaga track was blah to me, because I don't fawn over anything just because her name is on it.

Flipping through Pluto TV and rewatched "13 Assassins" on their Flicks of Fury channel. Great samurai movie, the last half of the movie is basically one long battle sequence. It's got everything you want from a samurai movie, honor, sacrifice, flashy sword play, beheadings and flaming cows......yep flaming cows. 8/10

I was just thinking, "Ya know, there just aren't enough movies with flaming cows!"

Well, I got meme'd into watching Morbius. It was everything you'd expect from a meme.

Leto is like a newer version of Nicholas Cage. Just spamming roles and every now and then one of them works out so people think he's pretty good.

I watched The Lost City, it was kinda 'meh' which is disappointing since I really like Sandra Bullock. She plays a romantic novelist that gets kidnapped to help find "The Lost City" Daniel Radcliffe plays the villain, I would have liked to see more of him in the movie. Pretty forgettable movie. 5.5/10

"House on Haunted Hill" (1999)

I'm a huge fan of the original (1959). Scared the bejesus out of me when I saw it as a little kid in the late 60's.

Looked forward to the remake when it came out.

Have watched the remake a few times over the years, most recently on Tubi.

I like the premise.

I mean you couldn't run the exact same story as the original– I mean modern viewers wouldn't have been been satisfied with only "wife wants to kill her husband" thing. So the whole psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane angle was added.

The challenge for the writers/directors of the remake was how to transition the "evil house" stuff into the "wife wants to kill husband" story.

When I viewed the remake for the first time I came away thinking this transition just didn't work as well as what they had intended.

The final "house monster" (chasing the survivors) was a meh for me.

That said, there are parts of the movie I do enjoy.

"Dawn of the Beast" (2021)

Weird movie.

I thought it was a "Big Foot" flick.

And it was sorta.

But in actuality it was a Wendigo (a more mythological creature than even Big Foot) movie with Big Foot and some "Evil Dead" thrown in.

In other words a mishmash.

Yeah the story was as clumsy as it sounds.

The quality of the filming was decent. The acting OK given the low budget.

I think the writers/director tried combining too many elements which sabotaged the film.

4/10

A wendigo is kinda half bigfoot, half werewolf, right?

New Netflix original horror movie called “Choose or Die” that I saw over the weekend. About an ancient curse written into the programming of an old 80’s PC game. It was a fun watch if you like horror movies with a little bit of the sci-fi element which is how I prefer them. I’ll admit though at the end I forwarded through just wanting to see the conclusion.

Jurassic World: Dominion - Eh. It was okay I guess. Not as good as Jurassic World (which I don't love). Maybe better than Fallen Kingdom...not sure, could probably go either way. Nobody cares about locusts...smh.

Just watched two movies online at FMovies...."Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," and "Top Gun_ Maverick'...I'll give the new Doctor Strange movie only 4.5 Probes
rsz_pobe_b.jpg
x 4.5

But I'll give the new Top Gun Movie at least 9 Probes
rsz_pobe_b.jpg
x 9...it's a real good movie IMO!

Between dating and then getting married my wife and I have been together since August 2017. We have never been to see a movie together until last week and it happened while we were in Montana. I was there for work and she was there for vacation. We went to see Top Gun Maverick. I liked the movie. She loved every second of it.

I only liked it because even though it was a good movie for me to let for the adrenaline rush take hold, it did not offer any suspense at all. I knew in each scene how everything would play out, and I mean EVERYTHING. That part was boring.

My wife gives it a solid 10/10
I give it a 7/10
