RECAP: Norm on Dallas and the Draft Picks...

Did he and T.O. ever bury the hatchet over Spittle-Gate?
According to Shango at thedallascowboyshow.com, that incident never happened. Hall supposedly lied about the whole thing. Did anyone else hear that?

Hall may be better than Newman IN 10 YEARS when Hall is 34 and Newman is 41. Maybe not even then.

Up next, Norm discusses why Al Davis is a genius and the Raiders are the big winners in free agency so far.

Pacman should be going ten cents on the dollar as far as a trade goes. Probably gets released at some point.

If we give up a 1st round pick for Deangello Hall we are the most dumb organization in all of football and that includes the Commanders front office as well.

most dumb?

Well... this was a waste.

No new info... and all just plain speculation. I hope neither happens at this point.

  • Knucklehead factor. Later #1 for Deangelo Hall. Hall is a cocky knucklehead. Arrogant is the right word for him. He's not a criminal mind you, but he is arrogant. He would take a #1 draft pick if they want to move him. He's 24 years old and has spent four years in the NFL. He's the youngest player ever to intercept a pass in the NFL. He is a lock-on cover CB and has good skills. He is 5'10" 200 so he's not a whippet. He is a knucklehead but Hall would become the best CB on this team; no offense to Terrence Newman. Hall is dangerous in the open field and an outstanding punt returner. If you could secure him with a late first and you may could, you would have a lock down CB on one side and and a very good one on the other with Henry as the nickel. You have to determine two things. Is he worth the trouble and can you get him for a late first. He is younger now than Newman was when we drafted him.
  • The other #1, the higher one and maybe something else to the Lions for Roy Williams; perhaps a fourth. A young established star in this league. Williams is approaching the last year of his contract and they are deep at WR. They need draft picks to rebuild.
  • Williams is ready to step in and be your 1a WR and Hall is ready to step in and be your #1 DB. With Henry then at nickel you have a very formidable defensive backfield. Hall and Williams are Pro Bowl players right now. I would never trade draft picks like this unless you are in the situation like Dallas who has every right to think they are a SB contender.
  • Then you could maybe pick up a player like Derrick Ward in FA. Ray Rice or Kevin Smith should also be around with the second round pick.

I would love for all that to happen ..... not gonna happen .... but I would love it.

Yea ..... that would be real dumb to give up a low 1st round pick for a young 24 year old kid who is still learning, who some think already has pro bowl skills.

I'll recap it in post #1...

Thanks for the recap TB.

Very interesting things discussed by Norm. First, I would do back flips if Dallas made a move for Roy Williams with one of our 1st's. That would give Dallas a young WR who will become the #1 WR when age begins to catch up to T.O. Also, he would be a VERY tough cover one on one for defenses! He's better right now than any WR in the draft and actually was a better prospect out of college than any WR in this draft. He would be a steal at #28 IMO. (I am aware that Norm was suggesting trading #22 and something else for him. I will explain below why I say pick #28 should be traded for him.)

In regard to Hall, I am not his biggest fan at all but he is head and shoulders better than Anthony Henry. I disagree with Norm in his thinking that Hall is better than TNew but I reiterate, he is SIGNIFCANTLY better than #42. That said, I don't think trading for him would be the best idea. His attitude is one thing but another is the money he will command when Jerry has to extend his contract. Extending him and TNew in the same year can be very pricey (I think Newman gets his new deal midseason like Romo, Brady James and Roy Williams 38 did in past years.)

Couple that with the fact that Roy Williams 11 and T.O. (MBIII, Canty and maybe Hamlin) will require new deals as well and I don't see getting Hall as a move I would make. CB is a must, an upgrade at nickel and #2 CB is necessary but at what cost? I would rather move up in the draft this year to procure one of the top two or three CB's and sign them to rookie deals knowing they will be cheaper and probably be starting full time next to TNew by week 9 or 10 of next season. As opposed to trading for and signing Hall (despite the fact that him being only 24yrs. old is intriguing).
