I don't, however, expect Burress to get off scott free. He's have to plea guilty to something. Maybe same for Pierce, but we don't know the details yet. On the other hand, the NFL will probably suspend Burress and maybe Pierce as well, possibly for several games. If they don't get suspended, then Goddell will face some criticism.

My guess is unless they just want to make an example out of Burress or unless they don't want to be accused of taking it easy on a celebrity, they'll work out a plea. That's just how all of these types of charges are normally handled. No one wants to go to trial on something like this under normal circumstances. Far too many other more serious crimes out there to prosecute.

It depends on whether they want to make him a "high-profile example" for the public that NY takes gun offenses seriously.

You don't have a permit in NY - you're screwed, especially when the gun goes off in public. He's in some big trouble.

I'm pretty sure there are no permits in NYC. Handguns are illegal there.

Yea, that's what I said in my post.

You know? With all the flack TO gets on this forum, we should be HAPPY that he's never even come close to getting in trouble with the law. Never, never, NEVER has that ever even crept his mind.

This morning it sounded as if, from the reports by various people, that if Plax is charged (as he has been) for having no permit then there is a very good shot that he'll be suspended for breaking the personal conduct rules of the NFL. There is a good shot that Pierce could be suspended as well for getting himself involved by hiding the weapon for Plax.

I'll be interested to see what this leads to for the Giants in terms of suspensions.

Also I wonder if he gets suspended how many of the Jones fans are going to run to be the voices for Plax and Pierce and how mistreated they are.

If Pierce did what he is alleged to have done, would it be considered obstruction of justice or aiding/abetting a criminal action?

I'm not a legal expert or anything but I don't imagine it's heavily smiled upon when you do things of that nature. I'm sure he could be charged with something.

I agree both Plexiglass & Pierce need to be suspended for this incident.

If they can prove Pierce concealed the weapon after Plexiglass shot hisself, then he should be charged too.

I wonder how long it will take Goodell to make a determination. I sure would like to see it come down before the Cowboys play them, but I doubt it.

Nah, probably not. They'll probably drag this out for weeks and if Pierce gets suspended it will wind up being at the start of next season or something like that. I'll be pleasantly surprised if he gets a suspenion that causes him to miss important time at this portion of the season.

As for Plax I doubt he's playing against us in two weeks even if he's not suspended. With the bad hammy and now a gun shot wound I doubt he'll even be ready for the game.

Me too! Find it interesting that the team got involved!

Expect the Giants to be fined big time.

Their reporting it and then likely suspending both players will likely result in either no fine or a minimal one. As long as the club is actively trying to curtail this kind of stuff then I see the league as going lightly.

From what I remember, Goodell, said that any player gets arrested that team would be fined, no exceptions.

I know that the team got involved but I think because of the nature of the incident they had no choice. JMO!

Yep, wasnt Jones recently fined for the latest Pacman incident?

Plaxico Burress is expected to be charged with criminal possession of a weapon after shooting himself in the thigh Friday night. The felony chage results in a mandatory 3.5 year prison sentence.

"He went for his gun and fumbled it. And now it will cost him," a police source told the NY Daily News. Details continue to emerge, such as Antonio Pierce berating Plaxico for bringing the gun to a club. Pierce also stashed the gun for Burress and didn't call 911 at Plaxico's request, so he could face charges as well. Cops only learned about the incident after the Giants quietly reached out to them to report it.

I don't think we will be facing Buress in two weeks. With his gun shot wound and hammy plus a felony charge, LOL!

They both should be suspended.

If Plax is allowed to play again this season after being charged with felony possession of a firearm, something is seriously wrong with this leagues punishment structure. Seriously wrong.

Where is BSPN now? Oh wait, Ed Werder is still trying to get T.O. to answer some BS question of why he wasn't smiling more on the sidelines after his TD catch.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I've looked through the NY State penal code and the New York City ordinances, and I can't find anything about a minimum 3.5 year jail sentence.
