Where is BSPN now? Oh wait, Ed Werder is still trying to get T.O. to answer some BS question of why he wasn't smiling more on the sidelines after his TD catch.

And on the other end of the spectrum you'd have guys here (you know who you are) kissing his royal rear end if Jerry Jones signed him, and making every excuse in the book.

If Plax is allowed to play again this season after being charged with felony possession of a firearm, something is seriously wrong with this leagues punishment structure. Seriously wrong.

While it does look bad for him, he is still presumed innocent until proven guilty. We don't know the facts and if you think what's printed in the paper with this kind of stuff is always right then you're going to get burned periodically. I don't think the commish is going to wait on a guilty verdict but he will investigate it and make an informed decision. So I doubt he will suspend him by the next game. I doubt it matters. He's not going to play next week anyway unless it's a baby wound.

They've been practically in the same position all year and have lost only 1 game.

Yeah, I know. My point was that we have fewer excuses than they do at this point. Without Romo, we were a completely different team. I think they have lost more (personnel-wise) than we have since last year and we need to just play our kind of football and we can definitely take them.

The part I find most interesting is that the team is the one that alerted the police to the incident. That speaks volumes to me. I think they have had enough of Burress and see this incident as a way to get rid of him with minimal impact of their salary cap.

I think they were smart enough to realize this story would not go away, and it would be a PR disaster if they didn't get out in front of it...

I mean, yeah, they're probably fed up with Plax, but now Antonio Pierce is in trouble too... I don't think they'd throw Pierce under the bus just to get rid of Burress...

Falcons were not fined for Vick because it happened before the new rule.

I am not sure what is going to happen with the fines but Dallas was fined for Adam Jones, Why would this be any different?

I think the way the rule works is the team gets a pass for the first player who runs afoul of the law, then is subject to fines for each additional transgression...

I very seriously doubt anything happens to Pierce on this...

I dunno, hiding the gun for Burress sure sounds like obstruction of justice to me...

What's so sad about it? It's tragi-comic at worst. The only guy who got hurt was the multimillionaire knucklehead who started the problem and he's apparently not in any kind of critical condition. And he has been caught so justice is going to be served. He will be punished and lessons will be learned. This is only sad if you start from assumption that guns and violence at clubs don't exist.

Moose Johnston said it well during the Skins-Giants game, if you feel like you need to carry a gun to go to a club, you shouldn't go to that club...

Makes perfect sense to me...

I know I wouldn't, and I don't have near that much to lose.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I've looked through the NY State penal code and the New York City ordinances, and I can't find anything about a minimum 3.5 year jail sentence.

that sounds like something a lawyer would say.

I'm a second ammendment supporter, and I think Plax should challenge the ban itself based on the Heller ruling. The law is on the books however. So the commissioner really has no choice. Plax should be able to carry heat if he wants to.

Yes, he should. If he has a legal permit.

This will be a personal conduct ruling by the commissioner. What the judicial system decides about the case is one thing, but it's not what will determine what the NFL will decide about Burress future.

On the other hand being stupid enough to shoot your self is why some people don't want people bringing guns into public places.

Luckily he shot himself and not some one just enjoying their evening.

That's the heart of the matter. This isn't about the Second Amendment. It's about someone carrying an unlicensed gun. All he had to do is register his weapon, then people would just be calling him "stupid" instead of "criminal."

I hear Chris Mortenson say that Burress didn't violate any personal conduct policy as it relates to NFL rules.

It seems as if in some cases, the NFL waits to administer punishment if it involves a judicial/criminal matter. In other cases which are strictly matters of league policy, it acts more quickly.

It will be interesting to see what happens here, especially since Burress only hurt himself yet was clearly (it would appear) violating a state law by possessing an unregistered firearm.
