I wonder if they can structure his contract where he gets paid per game and that amount escalates for each game he plays and an additional bump for the number of games played in a row. The idea is to make the first four games be his lowest pay which I would assume would be the four game checks he would have to give up for substance abuse.

How does the NFL determine the amount of the fine if his salary is structured this way?

I'll assume they'll average it out or make it a fixed amount so teams can't strategize around the fine with a clever contract.
I'm pretty certain that the fines are based on the minimum pay for XX years in the league, regardless of how a particular contract may be set up.

I just pointed to one.

Ugh, it's like dealing with a child. Let me clarify things as simply as possible... that poster said that the idea of Hardy, Lee, and McClain is "unbelievable," NOT that the defense with them would be unbelievable.

Also, a poster saying that he or she does not believe the Cowboys will go defense in the first is NOT a comment on what that individual believes the team should do.

Now, go run off and play. The big people need to discuss football.

Too bad you cant discuss a difference of opinion without making condescending remarks like so called "big people" can.

So what is unbelievable about the idea if it doesn't manifest itself in actuality? Why is that unbelievable?
For example, the "idea" of having Adrian Peterson in our backfield with this offensive line would be unbelievable. Isn't that based upon a belief that if it actually happened it would be unbelievable? Otherwise, why is it unbelievable?

Also, a poster saying that he or she does not believe the Cowboys will go defense in the first is NOT a comment on what that individual believes the team should do.

This one I understand. There's a difference between "will" and "should."

If you're sensitive about people pointing out your misgivings, maybe you should be a little more wary about stereotyping an entire board sans proof and referring to people as "blind."

Stereotyping an entire board? I mentioned a body of people who don't get that we need to focus on defense in the draft. Many people are overlooking our misgivings at defense.

Calling out your rude behavior doesn't make me sensitive. It simply makes you rude.

You should change your name to Straw Man; that or No True Scotsman. Either is fitting.

Congratulations. You just advanced in the ranks of the "big people".

Thank you. Your congratulations is much appreciated. Now, please stop derailing an informational thread about a possible McClain signing with your paranoia and speculation.

I love Fish and think he is a must follow on Twitter for any Cowboy fan but sometimes I think he is just a tad too cocky with his inside information. He said we were "No" on Hardy and he was signed not even a week later. He was always confident Murray would resign and once again he was wrong. He stated just over the weekend that the Cowboys were not really negotiating and now Werder is contradicting him. I don't believe we are in the running for AP but I bet Fish wouldn't know if we were or not.

There is a whole body of people on this forum.

In other words no argument specifically that you can point to. Because I think if you went to the Draft Zone you'd see a heavy emphasis on drafting front 7 talent.

Rest assured that those who want no defensive lineman drafted are in the extreme minority.

Expect Ro to sign another of those 1-year contracts.

1. Team has to be concerned about suspension as he has now run out of free violations.
2. Team has to be concerned about any implications that may arise with the arson investigation.
3. Team already has concerns about his focus, zoning out, and concussions.
4. However, the biggest reason is that I'm certain McClain is very upset at the market for him. Half way through the season, he was counting his future money and seemingly reclaiming his reputation, but it all went down the toilet in the stretch run. I don't see the guy or his agent wanting to sign a multi-year contract for peanuts. My guess is he will be the one insisting on a single year contract so he can finish proving himself and possibly earn one final decent payday in the NFL.

This is one example right here. Not trusting McClain, but trusting him because we have Lee makes this defense "unbelievable". Seriously? Unbelievable?

A bit of a stretch, but vastly improved from last year's solid performance. How bout "undeniable"?

Is he going to be suspended for any games?

I'm glad to see they're working on this now.

At least, it's good to see both sides willing to try to come to an agreement. It always takes two to tango.
