I can say one thing, our LB core will be deep and talented if we add McClain back.

Deep on experience. I'm not sure about the talent level. Lee is an elite-level talent and McClain was at points last season. The rest can at least start and probably not just be a body on the field. That would be an upgrade to players like Cameron Lawrence, but possibly not to Carter and Durant.

I'm not trying to knock what we've got. I think the team did a good job of going out and getting less expensive options to players who were leaving for too much. However, there usually are reasons those options are less expensive.

With Lee and McClain, though, having multiple, experienced, lesser options to pair with them is not as big of a deal.

Is it a good idea to have McClain here if he's upset all year about his small contract?

I disagree with his assertion. Not vets minimum but a contract dramatically less than he is expecting with protections.

Also..Stephen Jones said yesterday essentiallybthat they know he is not negotiating or visiting anyone.

They feel good about retaining him.

I wanted 6 quality LB's on the '15 roster, assuming two of them were McClain and Lee.

With Hitchens, Brinkley, Gachkar, and Rivers, we can sustain injuries to Ro and Lee and still be ok on defense.

The defense is a league average safety and a couple of lineman away from having quality depth across the board.

I want to re-sign McClain, but not if he's going to pout about his contract. If he can come in happy and healthy, that would be great for everybody involved.

Yes, McClain back with a reasonable contract and McClain being happy with the contract and happy being a part of the Dallas Cowboys.

WoodysGirl is always nice --yet there are others just waiting for the opportunity to bite...

But what I like is the extreme physical nature that Ro and Hardy bring. They seem to not only tackle but do it in a very physical manner. Takes a little desire out of the runners after a couple of extreme body slams.

I've always like Ro. Sure, he has his problems and off-the-field issues, but putting those aside, I think he was the beast this team needed on defense. And I've graded him on a curve because he had been out of football for two years and didn't have the benefit of off-season training or training camp. He did what he did basically stepping off the couch. Imagine what he could do with a full off-season of training?

I think he'll sign because, really, he has no where else to go except home. And I think Jerry's loyalty to him in giving him another chance will pay off.

I'm not from the Dallas area so I'm not too familiar with this Fish guy, but why does he talk like that? It's similar to how Micky Spagnola from DC.com writes, seems almost obnoxious

Yeah, I think dominating defenses usually have that intimidation factor to them. And those two look like key pieces to have that type of defense.

If you listen to this Fisher idiot then yes. Since he has been wrong on a lot of things lately and is the only one saying this I'm choosing to no because I don't think McClain is or would be upset.

Because he has such a long history of well-balanced behavior? Last year they had to practically beg him to practice in camp.

Beg him? No. Get him out of retirement? Yes. The guy was out of football. Not some guy crying over money. Being motivated to play is the issue with McClain not money.

Well, he wants a bigger, long term deal. No team is calling. Dallas is offering the veteran minimum. He's not thrilled.

I suspect and hope that if the vet minimum is being "dangled", it is laiden with incentives. If this has been mentioned earlier in this thread, I apoligize as I do not have the time today to read the whole thing.

Tim McMahon was on with Fitzsimmons yesterday saying that he, Ro is taking care of some personal business and told his agent once he gets it done he will get the contract squared away.

Said he only wants to play for us!
