Here's the reality, toots. This country is headed quickly toward violence that will make the Civil War look like a spitball fight. That knucklehead that got elected isn't the reason; he's the result. Antifa looks primed to go full ISIS in the near future. The crazy white nationalists will respond in kind. Everything will end. Sports, entertainment, education, safety, security.....everything.

The media loves this. They stoke it at every turn. They have given all their tools and resources to it. Soros puppets the strings.

We oldies won't have a say in the end. You guys will have to figure it out.

 Calling a race war here on CZ. Lovely.

Money is not a magical force field that protects minorities from racism, women from sexism, etc. Etc.

Yet black on black murder is the #1 way young black males die in America. Are they killed in hunting accidents? No, they are committing crime and these same people are encountering cops and having violent exchanges.

Are there bad cops? YES! Would you routinely walk through any cities red light district unarmed and in the middle of the night? Most would not do this, especially routinely. Why would most folks not walk through a red light district unarmed? Because you are likely to find trouble. Are the same folks in these areas committing these crimes have some responsibility for their own circumstances or the crimes they commit? Yes. Do they have external factors that cause some of their circumstances? Yes.

The point is there is no discussion about what responsibility the black community for their own demise? This discussion is not opened up by disrespecting the flag. Their point is lost and is never validated? The players have a right to disrespect the flag, but the fans can also hold them accountable as good citizens and consumers should! The players should open dialogue up by presenting truths from both sides of the discussion. Some these hard truths are bad cops making terrible decisions. Another hard truth is inner city crime perpetuated by black Americans.

Time to put our country first and differences can be discussed truthfully. Both sides of this discussion have valid points, but leave the flag and the honor of the USA out of it!

How does the NFL keep getting itself into situations where they focus is not at all on their product and is instead on these ancillary social issues? This is really bad for the brand.
Trump threw it into hyper drive over the weekend. I think a lot of people who were in the fence or indifferent on the issue before are now supporting the protests. Some players who still stand for the anthem are now taking part in unity protests with players because even if they don't align with the protest they still support fellow players' rights to do. The weekend protests and message have become more issues, which I think is part of the problem. The messages are starting to get mixed up, with (unfortunately) some of them coming off as "me too, look at me."

What I can appreciate the most is it puts that much more criticism on Roger Goodell. He is getting it from all sides. Yet the $%&# is getting re-signed?

OMG your the doomsday prepper guy from Y2K who got stuck with all that toilet paper and canned goods aren't you?

A ton of people have a doomsday fantasy. The younger generation will take over, and progress will be made. Rinse repeat.

The President didn't know what the 13 stripes stood for just a few years ago. He also said he'll build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. LOLLLL
You need to re-read the forum rules about politics in the his forum.

Side note, Trump called for a boycott of the NFL and this weekend the ratings went UP. LULZ

99% of the people talking about giving up on watching the NFL are full of hot air. Pics or it didn't happen, y'all.

I think the true test is to see next week’s railings. I believe a lot of people tuned in to see what would happen.

No. It's a sports league, pure and simple. That's absolutely ALL it is.

Right, that's what a sports league is: a social institution. Like it or not. If it weren't, it would be women's badmitton and nobody would care.

Yeah, they're not saying that in Russia, England, France, Syria, etc, right now.

And away I will go. When stands begin to empty and the TV contracts dry up, we will have the last laugh.

Don't hold your breath...........this doesn't include TV audience

The National Football League is the largest live spectator sporting league in the world (excluding auto racing) in terms of average attendance. As of 2015, the NFL averaged 68,400 live spectators per game, and 17,510,312 total for the season.

And that can all change.

Here are the eventual options:

a) keep the players in the locker rooms until game time AFTER the national anthem is played
or
b) quit playing the national anthem at sporting events
