I served 20 honorable years in the military. Why would I not continue to honor them beyond my retirement? I know the sacrifice made by our military first hand. They deserve every honor they get from their grateful country. It is an honor to give ones life in defense of country.

Kids getting killed by officers is a sad event that can not be painted with broad strokes as something that is the fault of the officers. Parents love their children and will naturally be upset over their loss no matter who is at fault.

Nobody loves to send young men to war but unfortunately wishing evil away doesn't work so better men than you or I are sent to dispatch those that would do us harm. True evil does exist in this world that would do real harm to all Americans, be thankful it is keep away from our shores.

I feel anger that I ever served in the same military as you. You are the type of person i warned my sailors about becoming

I will glady support any decision the players make as long as it is not kneeling. If they want to stay in the tunnel, fine. If they want to lock arms, great.

I'd have no problem with them taking the field and kneeling in a moment of silence after the anthem is over. In fact, I'd support that. But I don't think its a very good strategy to politicize the anthem itself. Of course, there is more than one party doing that. Its all really tiresome.

I think kneeling is really disrespectful to the men and women who fought to give them that right. I get both sides of this, I really do and have not debated either side in this forum.

It will go a longer ways by just standing in unity IMO. By kneeling, they are stirring up even more contrversy and the real, underlying issues will be smothered by the 24/7 coverage of the kneels themselves. The media will focus solely on that action rather than a unified front of players locking arms.

In short, if they want to accomplish some goals, do not make it worse by kneeling. This is all my opinion and I speak for no one else.

People get fired all the time for saying/doing things their employers found objectionable.

The 1st Amendment says the GOVERNMENT can't suppress your speech. It says nothing about your employer.

People who get caught saying vile things to co workers, racist stuff, etc. get fired all the time. Since their employer is not the Government, there's no 1st Amendment issue involved.

This is a moot point given that the NFL has stated they do not demand their players stand for the anthem.

How does the NFL keep getting itself into situations where they focus is not at all on their product and is instead on these ancillary social issues? This is really bad for the brand.

Simple people look to them as role models, so they act as if they have to be.

The guys who were doing the security for Kessler and Duke at the Charlottesville debacle were ex-military. The bottomline is that the armed services have remained neutral on this issue. The rank and file have various positions just like the population at large.

Can someone explain what the protesting players want.

Is it to pass laws saying that cops cannot respond to calls in certain neighborhoods? Kind of like no go zones in certain european country's
Is it to force an amendment to the constitution that says all cops must be black?
Do they want the head of the police union to get on TV and say that cops are racist and hate blacks?

Or have they been duped into pawns doing their part to tear apart the country?

Don't be on the wrong side of history. This is bigger than Kaepernick now, unfortunately. These guys aren't doing anything evil or sinister, they don't hate the country or the flag... they just want equality.
