Just got a text from my friend who works for Fox Sports after I asked him if this changes Dallas plans at all:

'maybe, dunno anymore. maybe jerry got cold feet last night'

Strange, I thought he was as good as gone.

This is a great thing on two fronts. Our staff is not gutted and the Giants lose a good man who might take some of their staff with him.

I agree with you. Put me in the minority that wanted JG to stay, and I look forward to Spagnulo dismantling the Gints defensive coaching staff. Maybe they can hire Brian Stewart :laugh2:

Why are you Hos so in love with Garrett??

And what makes you, or anybody else think he can lead this team?? He lost the offense after the Green Bay game, and never got it back. Why would the team now follow him as a whole????

The offense didn't need fixing and he screwed it up! Does that make him a bad HC...NO, but when you lose the offense, why would the team believe in what he has to say.

Being a HC is just like being a CEO....they have to make tough choices and delegate. He can't even handle our franchise in Romo, let alone a washed up player in TO.

This makes me sick!

cause he is 22-10 as a OC with his #1 WR injured the end of last season and this season his QB out 3 games, all his rbs getting hurt, o-line injuries, and a crybaby WR and with all the drama ..i think he did well considering..... injuries and poor player execution dont mean he cant call plays.....

the largest problem people have with him is they didnt agree with some of his play calls.well keep in mind couch coaches are just that....couch coaches........if Romo throws 5 fewer ints...........or if TO drops 5 fewer passes........or if the O line prevents 5 fewer sacks........if Barber fumbles a few less times then we are not questioning Garretts play calling

I'm not sure, he hasn't written back yet. Could Garrett possibly be calling Jerry's bluff that it's him or TO and Jerry promised him HC?

That'd be a Rooney Rule violation, but I could see Ray Sherman doing a 'interview'.

Yeah, it's a shame football is so hard.

The largest problem people have with him is failure to adjust and the utter lack of an offensive gameplan on many occasions this year. He didn't exactly take a bum offense and turn it into a juggernaut last year, people forget the offense had a great year before Garrett got here.

But hey, let's keep making excuses for everyone on this team, it's been working pretty well so far.

I don't mind if he stays, but I'm not going to worship the ground the guy walks on because he's had one successful year in this league. He has almost zero actual coaching credentials.

All you hear is how smart he is, and I'm tired of no one actually having to earn crap around this team before being proclaimed the second coming.

given the money that Spags got that might be the case

I will say this. Jason Garrett was 3-1 against Spagnuolo when Romo was the quarterback. The loss in the playoffs wan't his fault. Yeah, think about it. Garrett wasn't in St. Louis with his wife and a suite for a "visit".

This sucks! Jerry has proved he's an idiot once again....if Garrett comes back as OC or HC we will be watching 4 other teams this time tomorrow next year!

Just curious as to how the Rams hiring Spags makes Jerry an idiot? Now I haven't read every post on this thread so maybe I missed something. Why is this Jerry's fault?

I love how Jason is 22-10, while Wade is 0-1 in the playoffs. Priceless.

I wonder if Jerry called Garrett's bluff.

Still fishy to me how a select few sources said the job was Garrett's while everyone Hansen checked with in STL -- team and media -- said they'd heard no such thing. And of course it turned out not to be true.

Typical case of the media just feeding off each other. One person reports it's a done deal and everyone else just reports what the original guy said. It's a giant rumor mill.

It sounds like Garrett turned them down, imo.

Based on what?

Rams: Mr. Garrett, what we're looking for is a head coach who looks to establish the run, while putting his play-makers in a position to make plays.

Garrett:
No deal! *storms out in anger*

But where did the info come from in the first place? Sounds like it wasn't the team, so that only leaves one person.

All excuses. We all know Sparano was the architect of the 2007 seasons offense. But when the keys are handed over to Garrett he can't do anything with more talent on offense than last year. Predictable play calling blah blah blah. The Patriots lost Tom Brady but they still kept rolling. Why?? Because of coaching.

I thought it was a done deal because he was flying back for the 2nd interview, and the GM said something like "I'm not even going to say he's the frontrunner," which screams to me, "He's the frontrunner but I'm not going to say it."

Sports media sources are typically crap. It's likely just some low level assistant who's just stating what he thinks will happen and then the media prematurely ejaculates with headlines of "done deal," etc.
