If a trade happens, that would be great obviously.

If Tony is released and signs with a new team for less than $14 Million in season 1, then will the situation was not mismanaged-the contract would be the issue.

If Tony signs with Denver or Houston for like 2 years $30 Million with $10-15 Million guaranteed, then Dallas blew it.

What's it going to be then, eh?

We can't get squat because no team is offering squat. Jerry can't make teams make an offer for Tony.
Especially when they know, eventually, he will have to be released or traded. They can't adequately market him because him being off the roster has already been publicized.

This is just some prolonged staring contest.

Oh, and I've been hearing the continual and insulting storylines that always implies that Dallas fans are ignorant as are the whole organization...you betcha.

It seems we Dallas fans always run down our players and think we pay them way too much and we seem to think that other
team's players are so much better than ours. Especially in FA. In FA, we think players that other teams release are worth
a fortune and players that leave the Cowboys got way more money than they deserve. Just the nature of the times I suspect.
Lots of people have complained about Tony as a QB for years and now think he's worth 2 #1 draft picks. There's a
disconnect somewhere in there.

We agree but, now the genie is out of the bottle and no one, not even Jerry can get him back in there.

I wouldn't be surprised that if at the end of all of this it is revealed they were going to cut Romo and the response they got made them reconsider.

Not really based on what the teams interested showed, but rather how they were viewed for fumbling the entire process.

A couple of days ago, when the word came down that Tony Romo was going to be released, I was appalled. How could Dallas let go of their biggest asset for nothing? Just days before I penned an article saying that the Cowboys would be fools if they released Romo.

Then yesterday, on the eve of free agency opening the Cowboys pulled back and didn’t release Romo. With the trade of Brock Osweiler to the Browns freeing up vital cap space for Houston to take on Tony Romo’s contract, and with a rumor that Denver might trade Trevor Semien to the Jets, are they just trying to gin up some interest in a Romo trade, or is the team serious about holding out until they get something of value for Romo?

Who knows at this point?

We all knew before free agency started, that a whole slew of players would feel out the waters...and they did. Some big contracts in a very buyer's market right now. Dallas must build their now policy way...throught the draft. Now, without qualifying marks attached to problems or injury.

That's the playing field and why money players are trying to take advantage of little positive in the picture for Dallas....but here, stupid is as stupid does. I still don't see Dallas as being stupid.

There is no rush or need to release him.....Do what is best for the team first....

If Tony goes to Houston, I will not root for him. First, he's a Cowboy and I don't want him tied to any other Texas city. Besides, that fanbase has trash Tony all these years and now they're on his nuts? Nope. Come on Denver!

I believe this is Jerry showing his power. Everyone else would have released him. Just call Tony and tell him to sit tight while we call their bluff. They need him to be in their offseason program. One will break.

it is a staring contest, but you have to look at who has more to lose.
cowboys do not apparently need to romo's cap space, and can always open up more.

houston has to shape their roster.
their next deadline is the draft.
if they kept osweiller, they can say - they will get the young qb ready while osweiler keeps starting in the beginning of the season.
if they want romo, they may or may not want to spend their 1st round pick on a qb.
then the next amount of damage we can cause is to not release Romo until before the season begins.
now i dont think that would happen given the relationship with Romo - but one never knows.

They want him in their offseason program. They'll blink first if Jerry is willing to wait. One of two things happen, they'll blink or Denver will offer a pick.

I think this tread title is deceiving. I believe the Texans don't want to trade for Romo and that is their firm position right now, but that doesn't meant it won't happen. If the Cowboys stick to their guns and hold Romo, the longer this goes on, the closer Houston will get to caving in on that decision. Even if it takes waiting until the Texans lose a few games, the Cowboys will eventually get the trade they want from the Texans for Romo.

I wish my crystal ball was as clear as yours. Me think sharks always wait for the chum.

Hard to believe nobody will offer at least a 6th round pick for him? What is a 6th rounder for a guy that many assume automatically puts you in the Super Bowl?!

I would keep him all the way through camp.

A lot of the Dallas fans have trashed Tony all of these years....several of the very worst are right here in the CBZ.
That's far less excusable, imo.

Dallas FO doesn't put much value in a 6th or 7th round pick. They rather release him on June 1st. I bet for Jerry to bite, it has to be at least a 4th round pick.

Both big ifs, but if Cousins manages to go to SF and Jerry holds Romo all the way to the draft, I would assume the do-right thing is out the door for both parties and Washington then becomes fair game. But it would never be considered unless Romo was held hostage for a long time...too much good-will between the two.
Those are big "ifs" though. Do not see it happening.
