Report: Texans won’t trade for Tony Romo

romo was probably the preferred one since they thought they just have to bid after his release.
now the situation is more complex but the texans have committed in some way by dumping literally their qb.

Don't think so. I might agree with you that the Coach thinks Romo can win there but, you have to deal with the Houston FO and
McNair. They covet young and dumb like Osweiler.

if they wanted jimmy g - then they did not need the cap space, and furthermore, they needed the 2nd round pick for trade capital.

If they could get NE to budge you can bet that JG would be on a jet to Houston right now. They can afford to wait the game out on Romo.

the cowboys theoretically wait till the day before the games start? though it would be a circus and there is the romo relationship
this would also affect how houston drafts

if this happens and lingers, if i were jerry, and houston's pick comes up, i would make a suggestion to houston who to draft

They are not going to bring Tony to training camp. I don't think they will allow him to begin the season at all. If he got hurt training, Dallas
would be on the hook for his entire salary. Nope...Nada.

right it would be ugly for both teams, but more ugly for houston
tony does not have to come to training camp, right?

romo's agent is not going to undercut a buyer's leverage.
romo wants his new team to keep the picks.

I doubt Romo really cares about picks. He's likely got 2-3 years left in him and one 2nd or 3rd rounder this year isn't going to change the fortunes of his last few years.

And in the end, other than retiring which seems unlikely, Romo and his agent have no leverage to get out from under the Cowboys. If they want out, then they might have to play ball with the Cowboys front office.

Jerry could try and keep Tony away from the off-season workouts but, I don't think he wants his relationship with Tony to sour.
My guess is if they don't hold him for the next week or so, they will release him a week or so before the draft.

i think osweiler being released was a gamechanger.
jerry would be literally walking away from compensation by releasing tony in a week or 2 now.
it kind of protected the relationship because houston made a mistake.

Houston has been saying for awhile that they were fine going with Savage. Denver has been saying for awhile that
they are fine with going with Siemian. Coughlan might not be okay going with Bortles though.

Actually Dallas is in a pretty good position....we have 2 pro bowl QB's.....the Texans have Tom Savage with an overall decent team that could do some damage with Tony having an even avg year but stays healthy......

The Broncos have last years QB who they are already shopping around and Paxton Lynbch who is still 2-3 years away if even then.

I would not be totally surprised if Jerry decided to really play hardball and decided to keep Tony albeit a very expensive backup, but a pretty good go to guy if needed, if maybe as a player/coach.

gms say lots of things.
it seems it was a romo release then it because always a romo trade...
all seems like negotiating to me.

Could be but, no one is panicking today so far. The question of today is "who will blink first".

What is comical to me...

...I see a lot of the same faces...you know who you are...

...who are saying the Texans are automatically SB contenders with Tony...a lot of the same people....

...who have disparaged the man for years...

...I don't ask for much of people...but being internally consistent is something I demand...

...A lot of fraudulent folks posting the last few days.

LOL Romo sucks, but now he is SB qb when being traded . If he is just released, he sucks again.

It is kinda funny, first Romo is being released, but nothing happens, then denver and houston say they are not interested, and wont
make a trade for tony, but interested if he is released. meanwhile both are trading their starting qb from last year.

Something is afoot, but not sure what.
