The Cowboys season were riding on those games you don't care about games like that?

i don't give a flying burnt pop tart about a trumped up stat that came out of nowhere to simply be applied to romo while the haters use this "stat" as a huge reason why the team loses.

Well, now that Simms has cleaned up with elimination games, let's look at another persistent storyline that is often used when there is a need to write something about the Cowboys: The December Swoon.

If you're a Cowboys fan, you're very familiar with that particular storyline. As soon as the calendar turns to December, everybody starts talking about how the Cowboys are about to collapse. More specifically, how the Cowboys' high profile quarterback is expected to collapse come December. By now, you'll know that Tony Romo owns November but has struggled in December - or so you may have been led to believe.

It is true that Tony Romo has done exceptionally well in November. Over his career, he has accumulated a 24-5 record and a 105.5 passer rating in November. But December is a different story, right? Romo's December record is 11-15, and the Cowboys famously struggled to win games in the final month of the season. But did you know Tony Romo has thrown 27 touchdown passes and only 5 interceptions in 13 December games he started in since 2009?

In fact, over those 13 games (which includes the 2011 game against the Eagles in which he threw just two passes before injuring his throwing hand) Romo has thrown for 3,654 yards on 302-for-454 passing (66.5%) for a passer rating of 106.3 for December from 2009-2012.
-------

this is a team sport and for every game tony has "choked" on our defense has failed us three times over.

romo is NOT the problem but rage on. i'm gonna stop hitting "show ignored content" now so bye bye.

A QB"s play can affect their entire team. If they're turning the ball over 12 times that's not exactly helping their defense or instilling confidence in the rest of their teammates. When you have a piss poor defense you want to maintain the ball offensively not repeatedly turning it over further exposing your defense. Go ask passer rating questions to someone else if you can find anyone who cares about it as much as you. You know the answers to all your questions you're just looking to waste my time.

I understand what you're saying, and you're absolutely right, but you have to look at when those turnovers occurred, as well as other mistakes made by other players. If a WR drops an easy first down, or TD, it affects the team. If a KR or RB fumbles the ball away, that affects the team just as much. All those things happened. If the team is already down by 3 scores in the second half, and then the QB throws a pic, you can't argue that the TO caused the poor defense up to that point.

Dallas routinely racks up alot of big plays and yrds in the 4th because they run alot of no huddle late in games. You can argue both sides of this all 24/7/365. But something nobody can argue is if Dallas is in a close game down to the wire, the chance of him throwing a late game interception is just as high as him throwing a winning TD. Thats just who he is. In a close game i dont want Romo at QB. But thats who Dallas has. So you take the good with the bad.

Stats don't tell the whole story.......the 2012 Cowboys Commanders "elimination" game:

Romo, the epitome of efficiency the past seven games with 17 touchdown passes and three interceptions, looked skittish early and ultimately turned in a shoddy performance in a game the Cowboys needed him to be a star.

He finished 20-of-37 for 218 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Romo's passer rating of 55.9 was his worst of the season.

Romo threw interceptions on the Cowboys' first two drives, but it was his third interception that killed the season.

Washington, blitzing as it had much of the game, had yet another defender sprint untouched through the middle of the Cowboys' offensive line. Romo, throwing off his back foot, lofted the ball into the flat toward DeMarco Murray.

Outside linebacker Rob Jackson, who had seen Murray sneak into the flat and stopped his rush, made a leaping interception.

"I feel as though I let our team down." Romo said after the game.

Stats will show you what you want to see. Anyone can find a stat to bck up their opinions even if they're the furthest thing from the truth.

Now thats a bit of a stretch.

No matter how much I search I cant find any stat to show that E-Lie was a top QB last year except for the category of INT's - That would be throwing the most INT's. No matter how hard one searches he can not fine a stat to support any opinion that E-Lie was good last year.

Of Romo's 3 turnovers vs Washington in the season finale in 2012 the last turnover in the final minutes proved to be the dagger for the Cowboys. Romo's had multiple turnovers in 4 of his 6 elimination game losses. He had 3 turnovers vs Philly, Minn and Washington that's a recipe for getting beat. It's hard to overcome multiple turnovers in do or die games especially on the road regardless of when they occur. The losses have been a combination of poor defensive play and Romo not being on his game. He's been terrible on the road in elimination games. This stat tells it all of his 12 elimination game turnovers 11 have come on the road.

Give me the W's and L's that's the only stat that matters.

Yes. I've called Jerry and Garrett and from here on out Romo will play QB and S. He's a bit slow though.

And we'll have him rush the passer on occasion and play the Mike in SPs.

It's a team game. He's carrying all the water he needs to although he still needs to protect the ball a bit better and stay consistently in the 2.0 range with his INT%.

I say this not to change your mind but purely for educational purposes.

It's a stat only applied to Romo because can you name another QB who's played in more season finale elimination games than him? The Cowboys haven't made the playoffs since 09 so it's put more focus on Romo's season ending elimination games.

then no sense in continuing this discussion with you cause you just wanna pin the blame on romo without understanding the entire picture, or how other qb's rate/play in comparison.

have a nice day.

For some reason, you don't think Romo should take blame for his turnovers. You are wanting to discuss everybody from Garrett to Tom Brady, but you don't want to discuss the man that is throwing the interceptions. I will try your approach. The next time Romo has a meltdown, I will cuss Garrett, Brady and Manning and blame it on them. That should work well.

I'm not really trying to defend Romo's play in those games, because it hasn't been good. I just have a hard time when people put the majority of the blame for the losses on his shoulders. You made the argument that Romo's mistakes and poor play led to the defense being on the field so much, justifying their poor performance, and my point is, that with the exception of the Washiginton game, that's simply not true. The defense was bad regardless.

Again, you can't just look at the number of TO's he had. You have to look at when they came. Did they keep us from winning those games? Sure, they definitely played their part. But as for that being the reason the defense had such a poor passer rating against...nope.

Where did I say Romo is the problem? See ya! LOL

Here

The reason the opponents have all had a higher passer rating against us in those games than we've had against them is because our defense can't stop anyone and because Romo has had 12 turnovers in his 6 elimination game losses with only 8 TD passes. If you keep putting your defense back on the field due to repeated turnovers any defense even good defenses will crack eventually.

I pointed to the defense and Romo as the problem can you not read? You'll never find a post from me putting "all" the blame on Romo but he certainly deserves part of the blame do you not agree?

Not really. You write a paragraph about Romo's turnovers and overall poor play, and sprinkle in a sentence about the defense. That's not a majority.

You're so full of ****. Blame Romo every chance you get and praise E-Lie every chance you get. Every poster here knows your agenda. With you its the same old crap post after post after post and when you get called on it you try to weasel your way out of it spinning like a top. Its like GroundHog Day. You've prob earned the right to have GroundHog Day renamed to KJJ Day.

You got his agenda down. Its plain as day, yet he tries to back track and spin when he's getting kicked to the curb.

Show me where I said romo is blameless. I'll wait, I got plenty of time

I'm looking at the defense that hasn't been able to stop anyone and the 12 turnovers he's had. BOTH kept the Cowboys from winning those games. When you have a defense that can't stop anyone and a QB who repeatedly turns the ball that keeps a team from winning. The defense had to defend some short fields due to Romo's turnovers which didn't help their cause any. If you have a bad defense who can't make stops you have to maintain the ball and keep them off the field.
