our creator uses people MANY TIMES for a teaching moment,to change the course of a few lives...to change the trajectory. That's what may have occurred here. Our Father in heaven is like any worthy father on Earth, they wanna see their children succeed and be good stewards. Its still hard to fully grasp, but if we take a few steps back and think...it falls into line.

Things like this puts people back on the path. When things like this happen I simply ask myself one thing. Where was I when He created The Heavens and Earth. I am no one to question Him even though I wonder.

same here..in fact, I hated Kobe..he terrorized my Celtics at times lol...but man, I respect the man...and I respect his killer instinct.

I stopped following basketball after Jordan retired. But like you, yeah I knew Kobe was one of the best ever.

Amen, and absolutely right. In fact, I'd say, sometimes, in death, the meaning and legacy of a person is more meaningful. For example, look at Steve Irwin. When he was alive, he brought nature to people in a way that people could never imagine, fathom, or understand. He made it clear why each of God's beautiful creatures has a place in this world. To me, he helped me gain the love for animals I have. His passion and desire to bring these beautiful creatures to life was infectious. Was he perfect? No. Far from it. We're all far from perfect. I know I'm far from perfect. However, it was the way he lived his life that made him inspirational.

Yet, when he died, I think his work became more meaningful. I was shocked when it happened. How could such a loving and caring man did? Yet, I think God provided the answer as time moved along. I think people remembered what he stood for and what was so important. I think his death made it clearer for us to understand that animals have the same right to respect that we all want.

Similarly, we all know what Kobe stood for. We all know he challenged us all to greatness and showed what it takes to be there. Like Steve, he was far from perfect, but none of us are perfect. What's important is that I think he left us all a legacy, like Steve did, to follow. Like Steve, he's leaving behind a wife and young children. Like Steve, there was more that he wanted to accomplish. Yet, perhaps there might be more he can accomplish in his death. It is up to us to follow the example he left. By taking him, perhaps God is challenging us to greatness.

RIP Kobe...
Basketball legend Kobe Bryant, who captained the gold-winning U.S. Men’s Basketball Team at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, recalled at the time having “goosebumps” the first time he received his USA uniform.

“We believe it’s the greatest country in the world,” Bryant told NBC Sports broadcaster Cris Collinsworth. “And it’s given us so many great opportunities. And it’s just a sense of pride that you have. Cos you say, you know what, our country is the best.”

Collinsworth asked Bryant with a smile whether that was a “cool thing to say in this day and age.”

“It’s a cool thing for me to say,” Bryant replied. “You know, I feel great about it. And I’m not ashamed to say it. This is, this is a tremendous honor

Bryant, a shooting guard with the Los Angeles Lakers and five-time NBA champion, died in a helicopter crash in California on Sunday, along with eight others – including his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna. He was 41.



Collinsworth: “Tell the story of when you first got your USA uniform.”

Bryant: “Well, I had goosebumps, and I actually just looked at it for a while. I just, I just held it there and I laid it across my bed and I just stared at it for a few minutes – just because it’s, you know, as a kid growing up, this is the ultimate, ultimate in basketball.”

Collinsworth: “Where does the patriotism come from inside of you, historically, what is--?”

Bryant: “Well, you know, it’s just, our country, we believe it’s the greatest country in the world. And it’s given us so many great opportunities. And it’s just a sense of pride that you have. Cos you say, you know what, our country is the best.”

Collinsworth: “Is that a cool thing to say in this day and age? That you love your country, and that you’re fighting for the red, white and blue? It seems like, sort of, a day gone by.”

I watched the Challenger explosion in the middle of 4th grade science class. Although it wouldn't have been as direct connection it's just shock.

Yep seeing all these adults losing it is just kind of crazy to me. My daughter said all anyone talked about at her school was Kobe today.

That is until they heard a young woman of 90 recount her childhood in a concentration camp. She said the joy she had in her voice as she spoke of her father and mother who were both killed in the camp was amazing. So these kids will survive.

The wife and I were in the drive through at the local BBQ joint and she points me to the TV inside with a cop talking on the screen with a Lakers logo below. She thought something happened, and I thought it was odd too. You don't see a group of law enforcement at professional sports releases that often. I clicked on the news thinking I would see an active shooter, terrorist attack or something at Staples Center. The death of Kobe Bryant was definitely not what I expected.

I feel bad for all those kids on that plane and hope Kobe was able to hold his daughter in those last seconds. I freaking hate flying, and only do it because it's practical. If I could find a job like Madden that allowed me to go location to location in my RV, I'd do it in a Hollywood minute.

Reading some of the news about the flight, it looks like another JFK Jr. That idiot shouldn't have been flying in all that fog. He bypassed the normal navigation system to try and save time. Looks like he just ran right into the mountain at 180mph. I can think of many West Coast airports I've flown into where it feels like the plane just misses the mountains or hills on the way in for a flight path. That pilot should have been smarter.
