are you serious? did you watch all the games where Ferg was collapsing the pocket? Ferg's job is to occupy 2 blockers and he does that very well
Some people still don't grasp the idea of the 3-4.

Put this into perspective, the Bears trail by 2 at half, they give up 13 points in the 2nd half to the Colts, and ya'll wanna get down of Rivera?

Get real fellas, your gonna give up yards and points to the Colts, but ya'll can blame that horrid offense of the Bears for losing that game, it was the achilles heel in this game that it was all year for the Bears, they have a prolific 2/3 of a team.

Bring on Rivera.

Yes, but the Bears Defense showed NO halftime adjustments which allowed the Colts to march down the filed to open the second half and establish the momentum for the rest of the game. To me that was alarming because I saw a lot of the same things from the Bears D in the second half that I saw in Dallas. The only difference is that in Dallas, Parcells forced crappy defenses down Zimmer's throat and made Zimmer into the fall guy; while for the Bears, that was Rivera calling that defense all on his own. Pretty alarming! We can do better at defensive coordinator and now I'm leaning towards Bowles (promote from within).

So 38 points allowed = "giving them fits..." good to know.

So one game negates everything?

we held them to 14

Last year

Cleveland held them to 13

Chargers held them to 17

Steelers held em to 18 in the playoffs

2004

NE held them to 3 in the playoffs

They dont lose against every 34 team they play, but the generally have more trouble with the 34 teams than they do 43 teams

You could edit 3-4 and 4-3 in the posts in this thread and put in Prince and it would strangely resemble the halftime show thread. You could pretty much do that with any thread on here though, huh?

:laugh2: that is true, some people just don't like seeing the other side of the argument and making concessions that it might be right

Most discussions involving a choice between two options share a resemblance. Point?

Discussing football (and tangential topics) is what we do.

The biggest problem for the Bears defense was the Bears offense.

This was the one time where they couldn't come up with the turnover or other miscue that would help them win.

You cannot have an offense that inept and expect the defense to shut down a very good Indianapolis offense.

They kept their finger in the dyke pretty well from what I saw.

Thanks to Rex Grossman, they stayed on the field and a short one at that.

NO... It negates your blanket statement which used the word "always."

THAT'S better. The fact that a team plays 3-4 doesn't mean Indy is necessarily going to go down the drain. If it were that easy, teams who normally played the 4-3 would just line up in 3-4 against Indy. You have to pressure the QB, and the simple fact of the matter is Chicago didn't do enough of that tonight. And the reason a 3-4 works better against Indy is because you can disguise blitzes better if you know what you're doing.

Neither showed me anything at all....Lovie was smiling at one point on the sideline - NO THANX! IS TOO NICE of a guy....

And IMO Rivera was way too passive....Mike Zimmer called a far superior game than did RR...

I also would have gone to Griese at 19-14...the Colts had such little respect for Grossman that they kicked squibs to the 30-40 everytime ...rather than to Hester...they said forget the field position...we know Grossman is crap...

I know Grossman is who "brung" ya there ...BUT the Offense went stale...and the defense held them in for a bit.. I just would have gone for it and gave Griese a shot ....

Lovie Smith - nice guy BUT too nice...

Diddnt Rivera's defense hold the colts to 1 TD in 6 total trips in the red zone?
It is extrememly unfair to judge him after this game. The Bears D is the only thing that kept the game close.

actually Manning had an OK game, chicago offense couldn't move the ball, it's hard for a D to stay fresh on the field all game....

I just want to get on record that I didn't like the Rivera idea too much before this game. I don't want to be lumped in with the goombahs that are out now that he lost in the Super Bowl.

That was embarrassing... For a SB QB to not be able to take advantage of that is just insulting.
