People use his contract as the excuse for their irrational hate

Dez is the same player he was before he signed and that is a Pro Bowler

He makes the Cowboys much better and anyone that says otherwise is simply wrong

I
The Cowboys have very few character issue players now and they're not dependent on the ones they do have.

Gregory
RoMc if Jerry hangs on to that nightmare.
Dez
I disagree on Dez. He hasn't had any issues off the field in years. If you're referring to him getting loud and animated on the sideline, I chalk that up to his competitive nature which I love in any player.

Its racism mostly.

The fashion, the grammer, the X sign - these things trigger subconscious racism. I bet you 95% of the posters in this forum that hate on Dez are not african american. Am I wrong?

Race factors into these things, absolutely. We all tend to defend guys that we most relate to...and be more critical on players we don't as easily relate to.

Are a higher percentage of Romo "haters" black guys? Cuts both ways, right?

It can also be bigoted to assume too much about the motives of someone you don't know just because they come to a certain conclusion. But yes...sometimes there is blatant naked racism with views here. Sad.

I don't think Dez is a selfish player at this point. I've always enjoyed his celebrations, enjoy his signature X sign. If it is supposed to mean something I don't know.

I probably enjoy games most when he catches a lot of balls because he's such a gifted athlete and can make amazing plays. He can be a human highlight reel and make plays almost no one else can make.

Based on the numbers, and other analytics I think he's best used 5-7 targets a game...mostly as an home-run threat...unless or until Dak can be more comfortable throwing high-risk passes. (Dez is usually well covered).

Jerry is the one who gave him the big contract, so that doesn't factor into for me. As long as he's giving max effort who cares about that.

One more thought just for consideration.

If there was a lot of deep "subconscious racism" --why would advertisers use far more African Americans in TV commercials than any other race...more proportionally even than white people?

Advertising has to work at a subconscious level and they are trying to sell stuff to a wide audience, right?

No matter what I welcome the discussion on race and hope it will remain in-bounds and the mods won't have to shut it down. I see things from a limited standpoint and want to learn.

Dez dropping to us... I was so happy!
But now we are experiencing why he dropped.

Big fat contract - acts like T.O.-lite!

Dez can zero footballs and have a impact on this team. He's the only receiver any team fears. The post season will come and he will be appreciated again. But in the land where fantasy football is important no one sees his impact.

Suspensions galore this offseason. Now we attribute our success to the RKG concept. What a joke. You don't know what these players are really like other then what the media tells you so it's pretty dumb to try to comment on. The guys have bought into Dak and Zeke and right now the chemistry is there. You don't need a team full of RKG'S

I have met Dez several times, and know people who deal with him on a daily basis. The guy is a whiny ***** in real life.

And this is showing up how as it pertains to the team? All I see are reports about how he supports the team and is there for whichever capacity he's needed.

Seems he's evolving, unlike our fanbase...
