I am curious as to who you think the Top 5 defensive ends are? And don't add Mack or Miller, as they are OLBs.

There really isn't a need for me to make a list so that you can argue with it. That's a waste of time.

He had very few sacks last year in the second half of the season last year. He was invisible in the playoffs last year.

He is very good against the run and that's a factor. But lots of guys are great run defenders. The question is if you look at Lawrence realistically is it worth paying a guy 1/3 of what Tank gives you for 90 percent of what Tank is? IDK where you draw that line but it's the subject of legitimate debate.

And your terms are ridiculous. Your "right price" is so low that nobody would ever accept it. Hence, out the door.

Despite his numbers saying he is these past two years.

You have the right to your opinion, you don't have the right to your own facts.

I'm all for opinions, and very much defend people's right to express them. My track record there speaks for itself. But if you try to cross the line between stating an opinion and trying to make up your own facts? I'll take issue with that.

Even in your post here, you want to try to blur the lines, and I'm not good with that. Express your opinions all day every day, just don't try to pass them off as facts

I think $18M per year is the top end of what Tank is worth to this team. I guess I could see the team going as high as $20m per year but I think that's over paying.

What are your numbers? Want to see him paid Mack money? I personally don't.

I think he is closer to Dee Ford money then Mack money. But somewhere in between sounds right. 16-18 million per season.

$20 million is my range. I think it's silly to draw a line in the sand over what amounts to $2 million, especially when you're paying what you are for guys like Lee, Witten, Crawford, and Hurns. If you need the extra money, take it from there.

You cant make a comment that he's not a Top 5 defensive end and then when asked who the top 5 are that would keep Lawrence out, you suddenly don't want to discuss it.

This is what you typically do. You make some wild comments, get pressed on it, and then want to change the subject.

And who out there would cost a 1/3 of Tank (about $7MM) that would give you 90% of what Tank gives you? If you are going to make statements like this, you have to back it up with some names.

Rarely these things work out when someone leaves without a deal.

But I am hoping they can get something worked out. This team needs Quinn.
well its pretty rare to sign a deal when you're under contact with another team

The team has to set a hard line somewhere. If you adopt your logic, if the team is willing to pay $20m per, why not $20.8m, or $21.6m, then $22.5m. Oh ok, $22.975m per and not a penny more.

Overpaying is over paying, but I agree it would be more prudent to over pay Tank with the money they are wasting on witten and Lee than have a gel good Witten and lee farewell tour, but that is a different discussion.

I think the team will eventually move on from Tank in large part due to the fact that the money is all he is focusing on and getting surgery to get right isn't on his radar.

I don't need to back anything up to you. Lol. I already know you don't agree with my point. That doesn't change my point of view.

Parameters? Sure, but not a "hard line". As I said, especially when they re fine overpaying elsewhere. You don't go cheap with the one guy who's actually earned it.

I'm not happy about his not getting surgery and using it as leverage, I think that's dirty pool and not good faith. But then again, neither is tagging the guy a second time after he was a good soldier about all of it last year. So that's a wash for me in terms of that. And I don't care to hear again about what the team's "rights" are, I'm aware of what they can do and aware of what they should do.

Ahead of everyone else on this current team, Lawrence has earned his big payday. Every team pays someone big money, he should be the guy for this team.

This is where you try to pass off your opinions as fact and get called on it. Exactly what I'm talking about.

Lawrence isn't a top 5 DE in the NFL.

1. Mack
2. Chandler Jones
3. Joey Bosa
4. Melvin Ingram
5. Calais Campbell

These 5 off the top of my head that are ahead of Lawrence as DE. If we include players along all of the line he isn't even in top 10 defensive lineman.

Problem is cap goes up every year.

So teams overpay for average to above average guys. It’s the going rate. It’s the reason guys like Dak, Cousins etc will get 20+ a year

They could have had the trade and extension worked out. It's clear that they did not work that out because he is on the way to NO, I believe.

Then how can you claim to have any credibility when you make a comment like we could get a guy that would be 90% as good as Lawrence for like $6-7MM?

That's an outlandish comment.

would be smart of the team to see who Quinn is interested in playing for then send him to the highest bidder, no?

Not if the team had been fine with what the Cowboys were willing to offer in draft pick compensation. It seems it might be Quinn driving this bus seeing if he can get more money out of NO than Cowboys. I suspect Miami already knows what NO is willing to offer for Quinn.

guess we will see how it all plays out, I assumed Dallas low balled both Quinn and Miami just based off the recent past

Tagging a player is a team's right. It's not dirty pool. That's a bargained for right under the collective bargaining agreement.

You are somehow painting the team as being villainous because it is using the tag. That's an emotional ploy. It's disengenuine.

Your post is dripping in emotion, which is fine because thats your right to approach it like that if you want to. But it's clear that this is more of an emotional reaction by you to the situation than a cold blooded rational analysis. Like I said, that's ok, just don't try to pass it off as something it's not.

Maybe not. It all depends on the Cowboys motivation. The Saints are pretty tight against the cap and have little to work with in terms of draft picks.

Dallas may intend on using Quinn as a significant bridge player for the departure of Lawrence. In that case the team may have offered a little more than they normally would.

It's all conjecture but Dallas appears to be exploring multiple options here

Nice try, but I'm not the one "emotionally" being mad at the player for not having surgery, while giving the team a free pass for what they're doing. I'm being rational, fair, balanced and treating things equally.

You want to talk about the team's"rights" while at the same time dismissing those of the player. It is your "emotions" which are on full display.

Again, nice try.
