If I'm not mistaken I think they have to wait until after suspension.......im not sure though. I agree it's time to move on. I like Hitchens at middle LB then outside anyways. Let Hitchens hold the middle down for the year until Jaylon takes over then grab an outside LB next year in the draft

According to some on this site, Hitchens at 235 pounds is too small to play the middle.

Those calling for him to be cut will be disappointed because he won't be. Not since he won't count against the 53 until he returns. I wonder if he will appeal. Once he returns we can take a snapshot of the LB situation and determine what we will do with him then.

Agreed.

It usually takes Ro 4-5 games to round into shape...

So what you are saying is "Let's keep him for the Superbowl run"...

;)

No. They will appraise the situation when and if he returns and make the decision on what to do then. Cutting him now, unless it serves a contractual obligation in favor of the team, is not wise.

While he is suspended he does not count against the 53 correct ? Plus his contract is a 1 year performance laden contract, so he loses all the money for the 10 games, plus the performance clauses as well. That being said, keeping him around is the wrong answer. He needs to be shown the door today, Jerry can do it as diplomatically as he likes, but Ro no play no more. We are now down 4 starters from last year (with RB's elbow fracture) and we haven't even started training camp yet ! I see Hitchens and Gashkar battling it out for MLB, Lee and Wilson at WSLB and Wilber and Nzocha ? (sp) at strong side with maybe even KIng as well. McClain just has to go. This is one of the tough decisions Jerry just HAS to make .... (Tough for him, not for us armchair GM's).

I don't see it that way although I also don't feel strongly about it either. They can do what they wish and in the end it may not make any difference. One thing IDK still is whether you can cut a player who is suspended for substance abuse. It may not be an option until he returns to the team. I'd be flabbergasted if there wasn't language for team help in rehabilitation for players suspended for SA.

Very disappointed in Ro...I just feel like i said in the past...he's a country boy who likes herb, fishing and home cooking.

Good for him...but it's time to release him tomorrow.

Sure hope Jaylon's nerve wakes up sooner than expected.

I have been a huge Ro supporter, but even I admit, it's time to part ways with him.

He can be cut for cause...just say he is out of shape and got beat out....Manziel got cut...RRice got cut...

Then you looking at some nasty stuff if it's true. Like I said I'm not sure if that's the case........doesn't matter either way I think we both agree he doesn't need to suit up again for Dallas

I think he plays better in the middle compared to the outside. I'm no scout but just seems he is more comfortable and actually makes "some" plays from the middle

Part of me is relieved that I don't have to think about McClain for first 10 weeks. If Jaylon Smith gets recovery back in that nerve I am fairly confident we don't have to worry about this fiasco at MLB for while.

I have learned two things about Hitchens:

1. He maximizes his intrinsic ability to ball at the Mike.
2. He plays better hurt.
