Rolando is an unreliable player with the ability to be one of the very best MIKEs in the game. He'll never reach his potential.

This is both very frustrating and completely predictable. I don't put it in the same category as the risks we've taken with Gregory and Jalen Smith, because we got McClain for a song and insisted on paying as we went. But football was clearly never important enough to this guy. We made an exception for him, and he let the team down. If we release him now, and we should, we got a season of good play and a season of bad play out of a placeholder player for us. It's not the end of the world. It basically means we've lost the impact of a potential game breaker on our weak side of the ball, but the chances of him showing up fat, overweight, and ready to knock heads this year wasn't that high from the outset. Maybe some people think that's a positive take on bad news, but this is a guy I never really thought we could count on anyway. We were running on borrowed time, waiting for a tire to blow on this one, and it blew before the season even started. That's what you get when you buy an expensive tire that's been factory-refurbished and resold at a discount.

Time to pop on the Costco special and just get back on the road and stop worrying about it.

Understand where you're coming from YR but if Mike Fisher's tweet regarding Jerry Jones needing to be convinced about releasing McClain...then it is apparent that Garrett is not at fault for the guy even being on the roster. Now, I do realize that I am giving credence to something Fisher said and that is one dumb move BUT I do think in dealing with Jerry Jones, Garrett has learned to pick his battles. Ro McClain was not a major battleground to him I don't believe while Hardy on the other hand was and drafting Elliott may have been as well...speculation on my part.

Not so fast. Garrett worked for Nick Saban when Sabin was with the Dolphins. Garrett has indicated that Sabin sold him on McClain. So Garrett has his hands all over this.

this guy not showing up for OTA's makes me believe they knew this for a long time.

Pretty ridiculous.

I like hitchens as a player and I thought he was excellent in '14 down the stretch when mcclain decided he was too hurt to play....meanwhile hitchens played in a playoff game as a rookie 6 days after suffering a high ankle sprain.

It doesn't fix the problem of why this guy is on the roster and why he was brought back but I am actually happy to see hitchens as the inside guy and think he will be good. But again that doesn't address the real problem here.

also, How long will it be before Sean Lee is back at Mike because hitchens is actually at his best on the weak side?

they already have with nzochea and hopefully they are right...if he is a player and damion wilson are players they will be fine. If wilson and nzochea can't play this defense will have major problems.
