He left without a contract.
Thanks.
He left without a contract.
That the team is only willing to pay him the league minimum fills in some gaps pretty nicely, though, no?
Would Sean Lee leave the stadium altogether and not show up to practices because of a concussion?
The going got tough and he got going.
You're right, we only know what's been reported and that is what's been reported. Of course, we can only comment based on what gets reported, so if we're not going to do that we can go ahead and shut down the thread. You don't know what's been offered.
For instance the team hasn't offered Dez the league minimum and he's not locked up.
As fans, we just aren't nearly as privy to the inner goings-on as those within the facility.
I firmly believe there's a good reason why the team feels as lukewarm as they do about signing McClain. You can bet they know much more than any of us about what can be expected of him and what can't. NE won't give him much more than we would have, if anything at all. He's simply a highly unpredictable type of character.
I remember all the talk last year on CZ and how he was a beast and made Lee expendable! "We can now move Lee to WLB" "We finally have an enforcer!" "Ware and the rest were too nice, Ro hits you and you feel it!"
Now look at the majority of the posters only because he missed the last couple of games they remember. That sideline rant on sound FX before he went out against Detroit with the concussion was all I needed to hear! The dude is a team player. and wants to win and lead!
Most of our posters have turned just as cheap as Stephen now, as if it's our money anyway?? What a joke! We lose Ro, and we take a step back IMO, on a defense that can't afford to do that.
They have made themselves well known. I'm sure that's rhetorical.Who wouldn't feel better with McClain in the starting lineup going into next season?
Yep, Jerry must have lost his mojo. He needs to present it in a way that plays to his ego where he bets on himself. Who doesn't want to show them...make them eat their words" and take their money all at the same time?I would love to keep Rolando, dude brings nastiness to the middle and can you imagine once Hardy hits the field at the same time.
Rolando is a playmaker and I would certainly feel better with his size in the middle, you can still draft a LB as well just in case he has issues.
The problem is simply a trust factor, so offer him a similar contract in terms of structure, not amount, to the Hardy contract.
Make him earn everything and mitigate risk, assuming of course NE is not offering substantial amount more.
He had a confirmed concussion. I don't see that as a valid criticism at all whatsoever.
On Talkin' Cowboys they explained the Patriots interest. Hightower is expected to miss training camp due to shoulder surgery and Mayo is rehabbing after knee surgery.

You speak authoritatively as if you know what is speculation and what is not.Or we could just not talk authoritatively on things that are speculation.
What we know is that the Cowboys are in active negotiations with Rolando.
And it stands to reason if we are just offering the minimum in a take it or leave it fashion people wouldn't describe the talks as negotiations. Where you give and take.
Bit that's just me.
the concussion(s) at the end of the season are worrisome.
I expect injuries to Lbers. They are defense version of Running Backs at this point. You need lots of them. But the quesiton marks still remain and whether the injuries are his fault or not, we have 8-12 games of dominance surrounded by 3-4 years of not a lot.
I agree that he's unpredictable, but I don't see what that has to do with finding a way to get him back on this team. It's on the record that Jerry, Rod, & Stephen love the "player".
According to word being relayed from some of the "insiders" at VR, the Cowboys have lost confidence in his reliability or the lack thereof. It's true that they love the player but not being able to count on his availability in practices and games has taken a toll. There are also "times when he seems disinterested" as well. His recent problems with the drug issues haven't helped his cause either.
They don't go into any detail about his miscues because that's not what JG and Jerry do but their confidence in him has taken a serious plunge, so they say. It certainly seems obvious by their reluctance to commit to a new contract.
Yes, money is a part of the problem but not really the main issue by a longshot. We'll see if they can find a solution both sides can live with. Personally, I'd like to see that happen but as things now stand, there seems to be plenty of room for doubt it'll happen.
You speak authoritatively as if you know what is speculation and what is not.
In any event, anyone that negotiates complex transactions on a regular basis can understand that negotiations can drag on based on minor details. But, by all reports that exist, the wide gulf in pricing between the team and McClain doesn't appear to be a minor detail.
Something is rotten in Finland.
I cannot imagine the Patriots wanting Ro when you consider the player's alleged lack of committment to the game, and his pending/ongoing, ahem, fire investigation.
Based on the Patriots no-nonesense approach this just not make sense. And if it do, then their business model half changed.
