Romo has a long way to go

I still have my doubts about Romo but at the end of the day, he does have the skill to be a Super Bowl QB, and he has the tools, we need to make sure we MAKE OUR LINE A SUPER BOWL CALIBER LINE.

Cause as far as I saw the other night in the super bowl, Brees had the better protection, while Manning was moving around way too much.

Anyone who won't admit Brees looked better than Romo is totally a homer. I don't think Romo goes 32 for 37 in that game.
I love Romo - he is top 5-7 QB in the NFL. But Brees accuracy and decision making were absolutely superb. He is a notch better than Tony right now - largely because he is calmer under pressure and just amazingly accurate. He senses pressure earlier and calmly throws it short to an open RCVR before the lineman is totally in his face.

What pressure? With the exception of 1 sack, Brees has all night to pick apart Indy's defense. God! There was no pressure at all on him. Speaking of trolls.

Garrett really must go, he just does not have it! yes some games he does a very good job but he does not go with the strengths of the team. almost like he is stubborn he does not adjust well during the games...

I hope you realize that he is learning on the fly. Sean Payton didn't become a genius overnight. He was stripped of his play calling duties in New York, before he arrived at Dallas and made a name for himself again.

The fact is that Garrett has been improving over the years. He has a ways to go, but no one can deny that improvement has been steady.

Be careful what you ask for.

Nope. He must be an instant genius. His QB's cant throw an incomplete pass and the RB's must average 10+ yards per carry. Anything else just sucks.

As usual, Cowboy homers cannot see the light! This board has zero unbiased people on it, not really a forum board, more like a Cowboy cheer camp. Don't waste your time killing me, I need to get back to my stocks, gone for the day.

 says the ridiculous troll/hater. If I knew it would not be deleted I would tell you what I really think. I am really getting tired of these weak minded hit and run type posters. Oh well, what are you going to do? It's tolerated for a reason.

Wake up. Follow the forum. Hardly a troll - I am in the chat every single week rooting for the team until the very end. But I am realistic because I want to improve in areas we need to improve in.

Stop making excuses for Romo he is just good enough to get one playoff win that's it, the sooner we stop kidding ourselves the better.

yeah I think you're one of those folks who also made the brilliant claim that he'd never be good enough to win in December and he'd never win a playoff game.

now that they have he's just good enough to win one huh? Thanks but I think I'll flush your advice about QBs along with the other stuff that I need to flush shortly.

Yeah that really simple fact seems to be lost on so many.

3. Romo would not have gone 32/37 in that game and we know it. When has he done that??

I don't think we can say that based on past efforts by Romo, such as:

41/55 at New York Giants this season.

31/39 vs. Minnesota in 2007.

20/25 at Philadelphia in 2007.

With those and other similar performances, is it more far-fetched to believe Romo could have gone 32/37 (or 39) in that game or that he couldn't?

in the NFL you have a 4 or 5 year window tops! so learing on the fly for an assistant head coach / offensive coordinator is unacceptable for a team with playoff talent

That one key INT lost the 2nd biggest game of Manning's career.

I'm not sure you want to just blow that off. A weak attempt to bash Romo, at best, and yes I saw where you said you aren't knocking Romo. With the protection Brees got tonight, Romo would pick anyone in the NFL apart.

Tony would have added 2 more tds on top of the score..... with that protection and run 1 in just for good measure............:starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin

Then you won't mind being banned... ROTFLMAO...

Nope it doesnt. I am a diehard Cowboys fan but I don't support every player like a homer does.

Anybody who refuses to acknowledge the greatness of Emmitt Smith, the all-time leading rusher in the history of the NFL and a first ballot Hall of Famer, is no REAL Cowboys fan...

Period... so go peddle your "I am a diehard fan" to some idiots who might actually believe that crapola...

I can't believe the mods let this idiot troll hang around.

I think it's to this board's credit that the mods are slow to drop the ban hammer... they only seem to use that on the most egregious offenders (and if you'll notice, this one got the treatment before too long)...

I'm pretty sure this guy is the old "cowboyrocks" (aka skinsrock) character. Same exact MO.

Of course it is... and if he's a Cowboys fan, I'm the favorite to win the downhill in the Olympics...

Rather than let him piss you off, you should learn to have fun abusing him... it can be quite therapeutic... :D

this gets my vote for the bonehead post of the day! Yeah, Romo gets a free pass around here :shoot6:

#2 I can honestly see people making a case for that and I don't have any issue with it. It's subjective from person to person but a case can certainly be made for Brees being a little better.

Though I can make the cause that Romo is the better Qb just as easily, so it goes both ways. But, for your question, yes I could easily agree with you on that.

#3 I don't agree. you have ZERO idea what he could do in that game, against that defense, with that kind of protection.

Lets not act like Brees went 32 of 37 in the game while running around, scrambling, having to make time for his receivers cause his O-Line is painfully average. Brees had ALL DAY to make those plays cause he has an O-Line that can actually pass block very well.

So you have zero idea of what Romo could or couldn't do in the same situation.

Not me. I hated Hambrick with a passion. Emmitt is my all time favorite Cowboy and I felt he still showed back then that while he wasn't as good as he once was he was still more than good enough to produce. I always felt that Hambrick was a by-product of teams not worrying about the run when Emmitt wasn't in the game and so it helped make Hambrick look better than he ever was.

Which I do believe panned out to be reality the moment Emmitt was no long there.

OOOOOOOOOOOOH! That one left a mark.

I can see how someone is making that claim based off the body of work. I don't know how anyone would honestly take Warner over Romo in the present as the QB you'd rather have going forward but I can definately see how they put Warner above him based on the entire body of work to this point.

Of course that wasn't really the question as it's the top 5 in the NFL right now and not top 5 based on their entire career.

And this surprises you? It should have been pretty obvious over the last 2 years that there are still a few fans that don't quite realise what they've got.

this is a very good series of posts.
