Romo isn't untradable

Again, it's the back injury. You are right in that the OL is finally becoming strong and his weapons are plentiful with Dez, Wtt, TW, and Murray. If he can reincorporate the deep ball and his accuracy reverts to previous forms this wouldn't even be a needed hypothetical discussion. I was thinking of worst case scenario (cutting ties/no trade).

I can't get the back thing outta my head because NOBODY is gonna tell you if it's worse than what they said until they can't hide it anymore and I never completely swallowed that whole "cyst removal" thing last year.

I'm not sure how you think that applies. Peyton Manning was released. Nobody traded for him. Also, Tony Romo isn't Peyton Manning.

Cutler was traded when he was just turning 26. Without a back issue.

Manning had a debilitating neck injury yet still got paid handsomely.

Cutler was essentially going to be a free agent, and got paid handsomely.

You undervalue what teams will do for a good qb.

Anyone watching some of Romo's ducks (uncommon bf 13) that kept sprouting up should legitimately be concerned about his back. The wincing after throws was very common as well. The whole offensive scheme seemed to be evolved around his lack of ability to throw deep (again not a knock on Romo).
And like you said, no one in this organization will ever acknowledge what could be going on there until he retires or moves on from the team. It is a very uncomfortable situation to be in for management and fans alike.

Neither guy was in Romo's situation. Nobody traded for Manning. Who is infinitely better than Tony Romo, btw. And Cutler was still 25 when he was traded with no back issues.

How those two situations mean Tony Romo is tradable is beyond me.

Ur right. Dallas would be responsible for 28.181 mil remaining of his total prorated bonus. but i guess the money doesnt get cut into 2 yrs but only 1. So thats 28.1 mil of dead money but you minues the 13.5 mil. thats 14.6mil then add the 12.454 thats still 27 mil. and add the 7.4mil from that. thats 34mil. Then there is still a team willing to take that remaining guranteed money. Im sure Romo would want that money somehow. Its just a sticky slope anyway you want to put it. Which is what makes him untradeable.

Your math is all over the place... and most importantly incorrect...

Can you name one QB who was traded after a massive contract(healthy or not)?

Manning signed as a FA and no one would trade for Cutler now, probably includes Flacco as well.

Jerry handcuffed this team with that extension and he would never talk about trading him one year later because it would only strengthen the criticism against him.

franchise QBs don't tend be on the table, that isn't to suggest that they don't have trade value. If people are paying these players, it would suggest that they do in fact have trade value if their teams were in fact willing to trade them.

Carson Palmer was traded for a 1st and a 2nd (which could have been another 1st)

At times dropped like a bag of dirt to avoid anyone hitting him this year and it made perfect sense after he had this last surgery. Before that I was just hoping he was changing his game to avoid turnovers and wild scrambling plays.

I already did...

All you did was say cut Ware and basically throw anybody making money away. Then comes a totally different problem. The NFL, with all this you dont and cant meet the nfl floor on spending. How do you handle that?

Just stop there. That is the cap hit they take this year and they would be done with his contract completely.

The new team would taking on a 6 yr/93m contract, but only 28m would be guaranteed. Basically a 4yr/53m deal. His cap hit for the new team would be 13.5m and could be lowered with a restructure. A lot of teams would sign up for that.

Carson Palmer also isn't Tony Romo.

You're continuing to miss the point.

I've already broken down how cap friendly romo's contract is in a trade, and clearly he is worth more than carson palmer. And thus he has as much if not more trade value than Palmer.

If you can't grasp that, let's stop this conversation now, because it isn't going anywhere.

Romo's current cap hit is 21.7 million. His cap hit if we trade him is 28 million. Not because it splits in two (this isn't a june cut) , but because that money is picked up by the other team (the guaranteed money).

Thus it costs 28 million to trade him as opposed to releasing him which would cost a full 41 million.

There are more than enough restructures/cuts to get get under the cap from 24 million.

You don't trade your quality starting QB and take a cap hit of 28 million to do it. Give me a break. You then are not getting the benefit of Romo's restructure, have to restructure a bunch of other guys and kick a lot of cans down the road. There is absolutely no benefit of this trade at this juncture. That makes him untradable.

I didn't even think of that aspect but you're right: that was Aikman's go to move when his back problems were becoming a progressive problem. Good observation.

All you've done is make a few bad comparisons of players not in Romo's situation.

If you want to believe teams would be willing to give up something significant for a soon to be 34 year old QB with two recent back surgeries and a 100 million dollar contract, feel free.

#1 Any compensation you get from Romo
#2 Look at the salary cap in 2015
#3 Look at the salary cap in 2016

As I said, I'm not advocating this move, but if you can't see the merits of making the move, it's on you.

You clearly aren't grasping the fact that none of the players you've mentioned are in Romo's situation.

Well he's kinda like Peyton Manning. Except he's not Peyton Manning and nobody traded for Manning.

Make that Jay Cutler. But Cutler was 25 when he was traded and he had no back issue.

Okay, he's Carson Palmer....without the new 100 million dollar contract and back surgeries.

The only GM in the league who would give up something significant for Romo is the one in Dallas. It's not happening. It's not an option.
