Sorry, but Plax has been torching the NFL all year with that bum ankle and he was actualy good enough to practice on it this week. That is not an argument at all.

And when Roy was moved closer to the LoS in the second half, and they started to double Shockey, they still shut down Burress. Our corners are pretty damn good.

Actually, no. Plax had 2 catches for 14 yards the game before against the Dolphins, and 5 catches for 43 yards the week before that against the 49ers. And he didn't practice on it all week. He couldn't even practice on it two days before the game on Friday. It's getting progressively worse, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him put on IR at some point in the next few weeks.

Shockey had four catches for 23 yards against Roy (for 4, 8, 4 and 7 yards). He had one for 29 against Reeves (in a prevent zone before halftime). He had one for 22 against Ayodele. He had two for 16 against Burnett. He had one for 6 against James. He had one for 6 on a screen pass thrown behind the line of scrimmage. He had one for 16 against a prevent zone at the end of the game. And he had one for 11 between Ellis and James in zone coverage.

I've looked at the video on this play...

In all fairness, Reeves did not have primary coverage on that play. He was covering 83.

Roy had the coverage on that play. For some reason, he broke it off and ran to the outside.

:hammer:

Folks, I love the win and the Cowboys have injuries as well but it is going to be harder to hide Roy's weaknesses in coverage as we start playing better teams...especially in the Playoffs.

I was pretty sure that they said he did practice last week and don't bring up that Miami game, in England, on that field, to base an argument off of!

I wonder if the 'Roy Backers' are still somehow spinning this as it NOT being proof positive, again, that Roy is lousy in coverage.

If you think Roy is bad in coverage you are a bandwagon fan (I Been called that last time I started a thread about it)

If you think Roy is bad in coverage you have an agenda against Roy

Did I miss some; I was called a few more things

Why is it that all of us watched the same game but came away with a different assessment of Roy's play? The way AdamJT13 broke it down it seems to me that Roy didn't play too bad (that's what my eyes told me also) but others act like he lost the game for Dallas! Shockey is one of the best TEs in the NFL so it's not surprising to see him put up big numbers when the defense isn't gearing up to specifically stop him. After the first game against NY I'm sure the gameplan was to limit the WRs, pressure Eli, and if the TE had alot of underneath stuff...so be it...they couldn't beat us that way! The two big gains by Shockey weren't Roy's fault as it seemed to me he just found the soft spot in the zone (all zone defenses have holes, don't they?). I'm more upset with the stupid penalties that kept the Giants in the game than with Roy's play. :bang2:

This thread is frickin stupid.

You play to win the game, and we won the game.

Who cares what Shockey did.

Some of you guys act like Shockey is some scrub TE that's never put up a 100+ yard game. Big, athletic TEs do create mismatches against safeties.

But once again, it's all irrelevant, we're 8 and 1 and just beat the Gnats on the road after their bye, one week after dismantling the E-girls on the road. Get some perspective.

If we are to be a threat to win it all, we have to limit our penalties. I don't know what exactly is the cause, but it has to stop. It was a problem when BP was in charge, and it is now under Wade. Sooner or later, the players have to get it together.

and you know this how exactly? did you speak with Wade Phillips about this? Maybe it was during that "Anthony Henry sux" conversation you have with him from time to time

I love "Roy Williams sucks" threads. It's usually the same clueless group over and over but occasionally a new voice from the wilderness exposes themselves as having limited football knowledge. It makes the decision regarding the merit of a person's opinion on other topics that much easier to ascertain.

Yet most people in this thread haven't said he sucks. Most people have said he has problems in coverage and he doesn't look like the Roy from his first few seasons.

FYI adam is one of the most vocal roy defenders around. sure he's a cap expert and offers some great insight there, but his ability to spin stats must be accounted for.

not a knock, but his "defend roy" info is sorta like what you'd expect from Art & co at extremeskins... littered with bias.

It's amazing that if people don't lay down and worship a Cowboy player, they are called haters and clueless. Last I checked, we all cheer for the same team.

TE's are supposed to be a mismatch to linebackers. That's a huge difference in athletic ability. They're not supposed to be a huge mismatch for safeties in athletic ability. If they are, then your safety must be running in the 4.9 range. Who else is supposed to cover a TE? A cornerback?

please stop with this nonsense...20-30 yrs ago yes, today no

alot of TE's are huge mismtaches for LB's and safeties...there arnt many, if any safeties that can guard guys like Gates, Gonzalez, Heap, Witten, Cooley, Shockey, Winslow etc etc in space down the field...its the reason that TE's are again becoming a focal point of passing games

I believe the gauntlet has officially been thrown.

Not that I need to fight Adam's battles for him, but how do you 'spin' a stat? And the Art comment was a little uncalled for.
