Rumor: Cowboys made an offer to Arizona?

Of course we made an offer. But that one isnt realistic

I think it would take another pick and also Hurd/Curtis

Why wouldn't Spears and a #1 be realistic? Why in the name of heaven and hell do you think they would want our castoff WR or TE?

Teams who give up star players generally want draft picks in return, not other players. Spears could be an exception though, since Parcells thought highly of him and he is a big, young body from LSU.

Dallas should trade for Boldin in a heartbeat. The problem is that Arizona has said that they will NOT trade him. Why would Arizona trade a top 10 WR in the last year of his contract? It doesn't make any sense unless someone offers them a blockbuster deal. If I was Steven Jones, I'de offer Arizona:

Dallas' 1st round pick in 09'
3rd round pick in 09'
3rd round pick in 09'
DE Marcus Spears

This leaves us with a 2nd round pick which Jerry will probably trade down with anyway! The chances are our 1st round pick will be pretty low so it's basically giving them an early 2nd rounder. Thoughts?

Why? Because if they wait until his contract runs out (and he's NOT in the last year of his contract, BTW) they get nothing for him. And in the mean time, they got a seriously upset player who is not even talking to the head coach. You think that might be a little bit of a distraction? I like your thinking on the trade offer though, that sounds about right...unfortunately.

But Boldin would be worth it.

Why is that? Because he got paid more than Boldin? Look at the YAC numbers for Boldin. 5.2 YAC compared to 3.3 for Fitzgerald in the last 3 years, and their yards per catch are pretty much equal. That is a 2 yard difference YAC, plus Boldin's numbers in terms of number of receptions in 3 years, adjusting for the 4 games missed by AB last year, is pretty much equivalent to LFs. Hell, in 2005, Boldin missed 2 games and still had 102 receptions, with an average of 100 yards per game. Boldin has hit plus 100 yards twice, including his first season.

I surely don't know that Arizona's number one receiver is LF.

Why is that? Because YAC are the most important stat for a WR?

Why would you adjust for the 4 games AB missed? Injuries are part of the game, they happen to practically everyone.

LF has had 2 1000 yards twice also in 4 seasons (Boldin 2 in 5 seasons) and is DAMN SURE to make it again this year barring injuries. Hell, he missed it by 54 yards in 06'

LF has more TDs in 4 season than Boldin has in 5 seasons.
LF averages more first downs than Boldin does even though Boldin avgs. 2 more YAC.

LF is AZs go-to guy.

Spears is an average DE/DT. Him and #30-32 is the premilinary offer. You never start w/ the max your willing to give up.

You start low, they cuonter and you try and find some middle ground(hopefully)

Offer them Henry and a first round pick, he is well worth it.

Either that or a 1st and a third.

I think you misunderstood...it was Coakley

David

You beat me to it. This site should have some sort of automated string replacement option that plugs in Coakley for every trade scenario. It will fix your posts as they are submitted.

we got 2 3rd in 09 or are we trying to jedi mind trick arizona?

you don't need our 2nd 3rd pick...this is not the pick you are looking for...

We do have two 3rd round picks next year with the trade from Cleveland I believe. You know Jerry is gonna wheel n' deal anyway so why not get a sure thing in Boldin?

I hear you on the distraction part. Boldin is allowed to become a free agent next year though. Also, Coach Whisenhunt is on thin-ice right now in Arizona. He cannot afford to trade away his best player on the team after Fitzgerald. If Arizona doesn't win this year, I promise he'll get fired. Whether they are on speaking terms or not, Whisenhunt NEEDS Boldin to help save his job..

k - i wondered if we did have a 2nd one, so i kept most of my sarcasm at bay. : )

i still wanna jedi mind trick 'em.

this is not the WR you need. you can let him go on about his way. money is of no use to you, keep your honor...

wonder if we should even try it. :)

I agree, lets get him in here to help us win this year.

yeah, your outta your mind..nothing personal, but that screams of desperation and we are not a desperate team. Nor is Boldin even worth that much...that is WAY too much to give up

John Clayton was just on NFL Live and he stated there is no chance the Cards are going to trade Boldin.

I think it is time for one of those famous phantom injuries that keep you out of practice.

How bout we trade Spears for a bag of peanuts? There is no way Arizona is going to trade Boldin to us.

Yeah, John Clayton knows.

Everyone has a price. Boldin isn't even talking to the coach. What else might he do that will be a distraction? My guess is, not much. He's too professional, so you're probably right. Unless somebody is willing to make a Joey Galloway, two #1's kind of trade, it's probably not happening this year.

But hey, at least Philly wouldn't get him! BTW, I don't believe that they are not willing to trade Lito Shepard, they were willing to trade him before, so why not now? Particularly for a player that would fit their needs perfectly.

The best trade would be this

Our 2nd and both 3rds in 09 for Boldin
(Thats 3 high picks for the Cardinals. They can get 3 young players to go with the young team they already have. I think this trade is fair for both sides.)

If we make it to the Superbowl it goes to

1st, and a 3rd

If we win the Superbowl

1st, and both 3rd's

What do you think

The Anquan Boldin Rumors Are Resurfacing
Posted by jellis at 8/20/2008 11:53 AM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin has once again asked to be traded, unhappy with his contract situation out there in the desert. The Cardinals have said they have no interest in letting him go, and they want to continue contract talks.
This summer the Cowboys were said to have put out feelers to a few teams with disgruntled star wide receivers -

Cincinnati for Chad Johnson, Detroit for Roy Williams and Arizona for Boldin. Either the teams didn't want to let those guys get away or the asking prices were too high. The Cowboys plan was to see what their young guys have, and Jerry Jones again made that evident Tuesday when he shot down the idea the Cowboys were interested in recently-released veteran Joe Horn.

But Boldin may be a different story, if he could be had. And who knows if Miles Austin will come back 100 percent from the MCL sprain he suffered in Denver - an injury that will supposedly keep him out 4-6 weeks.

So Cowboys fans, what, or who would you give Arizona for Mr. Boldin?

My buddy just sent me a text saying that 1310 said the boys offered Arizona Spears and 1st round pick for Boldin.

Is it true?

Did anybody else hear this?

I really doubt an active player's name would be released like this. I think it is a rumor with little substance.

The Cowboys are not going to trade for Anquan Boldin.
Repeat. The Cowboys are not going to trade for Anquan Boldin. JJT thinks the team should give up Miles Austin and a few other things for Boldin. He's crazy.

Timmy Mac thinks the team should not trade for Boldin, instead he believes they should trade up and get Michael Crabtree of Texas Tech and Carter High's finest.

He's crazy too. Cowboys should not trade up to get a wideout that high in the draft because they almost never pan out.

Crabtree is good but not worth trading up for.
