Another fold by Jerry.

Gave in to Ellis. Gave in to Glenn.

Probably at the Miami Dolphins board. And that's not meant as a slight, as I think she was more of a Parcells fan than a Cowboys fan... but I could be wrong.

She might be a New England fan too. She started liking Tuna and Glenn when they were with the Pats. When neither of them was with us last year (for different reasons), she sort of disappeared on us. It'll be interesting if Glenn comes back healthy and she rejoins us. I always enjoyed her posts.

This Terry Glenn debate reminds me of the Ellis debate we had last year. A lot of people were ready to cut him since he was coming off of a devastating and career ending injury. Every one who had ever sprained their ankle came on the board to talk about how they could relate, that they KNEW he would not be back to 100% and that he would be replaced by Anthony Spencer by the mid-way point. The fact is we don't know how his knee is even if he is only available for 35% of the offensive plays and we only sent him deep on those plays, TG still drags a DB with him and possibly a safety every time he sprints down the field.

The one thing he brings with him that Austin, Stanback or Hurd cannot bring is a reputation. Opposing defenses will have to respect him UNTIL he proves that he has lost a step. That is worth quite a bit in my opinion.

I remember her saying she was a Jets fan and her husband was a Giants fan when she came to this board. She was following Bill Parcells and eventually became a Cowboys fan. Whether she had a split allegience, if I can use that word, to both teams I don't know.

I thought she probably left because of all the BP bashing taking place after he left. I know she's not one to run from a fight, I'm not saying that. But if her REAL affection was for Parcells (not the team) and he was gone, why hang around.

edit: Back on topic, hopefully this rumor is true. I would love to see Glenn have one last very successful year with the Cowboys.

I really hope she returns, because I love reading her posts. She is very well informed.

But you're right, I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want Terry on the team this year. Some people just don't appreciate how good he is.

It all comes down to healthy or not. Healthy he is outstanding. One of the better #2 WR in the league.

Too bad. Another ******** moment for Jerry.

Should have cut ties and saved the roster spot for a younger player who will contribute in more ways and more than one play a game, if that.

Yeah because Crayton is good.... Sike!

Terry Glenn has busted his *** and contributed for Dallas and outperformed all his contract $. $750K for aplayer of his talent is more than fair and equitable.

If Glenn can come back he improves this team immeasurably.

I've been hearing for a decade about all these great young 4th and 5th stringers. And really how many have ever done anything past decade?

How exactly did he outperform his 5 mill contract last year? This league isn't about what you did two or three years prior.

750k is nothing in todays NFL. He had almost two years to get his knee right. He played in the playoffs and had another say 8 months after that to recoup. I think its worth the chance. If Im Wade and the guys I would give him first team reps for the entire preseason to see if he still has it.

And the pattern is being too much of a nice guy.
Jerra need not have had to bargain with Glenn, whose skills, even if healed. and not rusty and old, are average.

Why would Jerra be so good to a washed-up WR who is a shadow of his above-average player Glenn used to be.
I guess the answer is, again, Jerra is too much of a nice guy. Sometimes too exhuberant like giving Crayton a new contract in mid-2007 season.

So now with Glenn, Jerra had the bargaining leverage and he did not use it.

The upshot? Young players will have to wait again as an oldster plays out his fantasy that he can still be the champ.

guys, i think the cowboys and jerry jones did use leverage.

first, of course jerry jones denies the joe horn issue, but most likely that was used as a ploy by the cowboys and jerry jones to get terry glenn to wake up

next, the cowboys had raised the offer from 340,000 to 500,000,

they just raised it if this is true, to 250,000, that still saves a million

you can use part of that saved money to help sign chris canty and hamlin

so that to me isnt giving in, but compromising on both sides, instead of his contract at 1,724,000 or what actual amount is, if glenn does get hurt, they will have a million saved to go out and possibly get a wr with part of that saved million

so to me both sides gave in alittle,

now with glenn coming aboard, and if healthy, you dont have to put glenn at fulltime wr on one side, you can use him in the slot some, to spread out defenses, till glenn comes around, this move will only make our offense even more potent and give alittle more time for miles austin and stanback to develop.

and can with resigning glenn if true WOW! that will spread defenses, and we might score even more than what the cowboys did last year,

Yeah, he was a real nice to Glenn, low-balled him over long snapper money, after he sacraficed his body to ry and make it back for the super bowl run last year. Real nice guy. All you guys who are banking on Austin, Hurd or Stanback this year need to wake up. Remember Billy Davis, Jeff Ogden, Patrick Jeffers, Jason Tucker, Chris Brazzel: all were young receivers in waiting at one point. Where are they now?

How is that exactly a ******** moment. Training camp is filled with a cajillion players, so taking up one roster spot is no big deal and Glenn has no guarantee to make the roster. Instead, Jerry pays $250K more to get a guy that if he's healthy will be a great contributor. He had to pay him whether he was on the team or if he got cut, so Jerry minimized his losses if he got hurt and still gave Glenn a chance to possibly contribute.

Off topic but I miss LaTuna Nostra. Every time I read about Glenn, I think of her.

She's the one who brought me over here... that's the complete truth, she PM'ed me on another board, and said she thought this forum was just made for me...

Oh dear, that may not help her popularity in here... :D

I do owe her, though...

Where is she? I know that she doesn't post alot in the offseason, but this is unusually long for her.

I think she once wrote that she had a pact with her husband that she wouldn't post to football message boards during the offseason... I suspect it had something to do with his wanting to spend SOME time with her...

The selfish bastidge... :D
