Running back candidates

Minny can keep AD and have a big disgruntled contract for the next few years while they rebuild. Or they can trade him for a draft pick and a young RB.

Dallas can roll with their unknown RBs or trade a draft pick and a young player for the best RB in the league during a three year title window.

I know what I would do if I was each team.

Make them a offer they can't refuse ? :)

Then why fight to keep him now?

They bailed on him and he wants nothing to do with them anymore.

Everyone knows this and with his contract no one is going to trade a 7th for him.

Just cut him and move on.

Because the stigma attached to Peterson's actions don't have quite the same sting now as when it first happened and he's Adrian freaking Peterson the best RB in the league.

They did place the welfare of the sponsors over Peterson which I guess you could call "bailing on him".

But the Vikings aren't going to just release him... they will let him rot in hell before they just cut him.

It's more likely a trade will happen after the season starts.

I would not want to pay a disgruntled RB 12.75m

One bad apple can spoil a locker room

And if he somehow gets "hurt' during camp, they would have to pay him again for nothing

You are not taking into account the Vikings were rapidly losing sponsorship from businesses that protested Peterson's actions. The Vikings chose to support their many sponsors over one player. IMO, it was the correct decision and other players are smart enough to see the very same thing.

Good points. I just don't know if the way they handled the whole thing was correct. The sponsorship issues could have been packaged to Peterson in a way where he didn't feel disrespected by the team. Right or wrong they contributed to this situation and by playing hardball with a HOF player you are sending the wrong message to every player who may consider your organization in the future. Our owners handling of players personal affairs is a huge part of what helped Collins decide he wanted to play here.

I agree but I would trade him not cut him.

I don't disagree. The Vikings were given an ultimatum by their sponsors, so it really was a no win scenario for them.

Maybe so but it was the excuse Peterson is using for wanting out. IDK that he doesn't understand the nature of the NFL and how much revenue sponsors provide for the franchise. I think he just has wanted to come home for awhile now and saw this as being his way on some level.

Why did they just re-sign him a week or so ago?

Because they didnt have to. What was he going to do during rookie camps? Right he's not a rookie. Im willing to bet they saw what they had in them rookie FBs they got and probably like Clutts. But they still need bodies for camp. Think about it.

Sponsors can be easily replaced. Ask Rush Limbaugh. Every time one of his major controversies would erupt and sponsors bailed, he would have a line around the block to take their spot.

The NFL is super popular and companies fight for the right to give them money to advertise. The League and the teams need to show a little more back bone and stop over-reacting to every single story.

Look at Dan Snyder. He hasn't backed down over the name controversy and he keeps raking in the dough.

If they thought he was really good, then they would have signed him around the same time they re-signed their other free agents.

So they just signed him because they just barely signed him, its only out of pitty? He's a FB teams arent running to sign these guys. Dallas knew he would probably be there when and after they got a look at what they got in UDFA. So im guessing youre saying one of these rookies are going to beat out a proven commodity in this offense? I dont.

You may very well be on to something. The sands of time are running out on his career so he may have just wanted to come home before the sand stops flowing.

you want a 30 year old fumbling child abuser on this team?

Yea, going with McFadden and his 3.3 YPC is such the better move. And in case they finally realize that McFadden does indeed suck and it was not the Oakland curse, they can go with the underwear thief or the practice squad guy that had a good preseason game 200 yrs ago against guys now working at Burger King.

The Giant's front 7 is literally terrified of these numerous options.

The sands of time are running out on his career....so let's give up a first round pick and pay him a huge contract! Makes sense. :muttley:

Better than giving out a first and paying a large contract to a 30 year old RB. If they decide that what we have can't do it, there are much better options out there. Chris Johnson wouldn't cost a draft pick and would come cheap. If they want to give up a draft pick, I would much rather have Christine Michaels from Seattle. Young, fast, tough runner that could be here awhile if we picked him up.
