Running back candidates

Peterson is contractually obligated to not publicly criticize the team. He cannot tell us why he doesn't like the Vikings if he wants to keep that $13m in leverage he has.

Much of the 2012 NFL MVP's displeasure reportedly is with team executive Kevin Warren, who was promoted from general counsel to chief operating officer in February. Peterson is under the impression that Warren was working behind the scenes with the NFL to keep him off the field for the rest of the 2014 season after he went on the Exempt/Commissioner's Permission List because of child abuse charges. Peterson is still eligible for reinstatement from his suspension on April 15 according to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell despite appealing the league's discipline of him.

I don't think them promoting the guy responsible for his banishment suddenly stops bothering him. While he cannot tell us what bothers him, he can tell his teammates. At the end of the day I don't see them paying $13m for a snake in the grass. We will see.

When Adrian Peterson told USA Today there were people in Vikings' organization who did want him back and people in the organization who didn't, the person he was referring to who wasn't in favor of his return was the team's general counsel, Kevin Warren, per league sources. Warren and the NFL have been working to make sure Peterson did not return this season, per sources familiar with the case. Now there are questions about whether Peterson will return to Minnesota at all next season. There were those in the Vikings organization who were, and still are, in favor of Peterson's return, including the coaches, front office and players. But per sources, Peterson believes at least one individual didn't want him back.

This Kevin Warren is suddenly my new favorite person.

Thank you for being shady and making AP aware that you dont want him.

Dallas will take him.

Couldnt AP essentially pullna Ratliff and say he was "injured" and still get a paycheck without playing?

He would only lose money if he voluntarily missed games because of a holdout.

Exactly..............all Peterson would have to do is claim a "soft tissue" injury such as a pulled hamstring. An MRI will only show a tear, it does not show if the hamstring is pulled. Thus, the team would have no way to medically prove he was faking it.

This is what Ratliff did and the fact that we could not prove he was faking it is the main reason we never got any money back from him, even though we filed a grievance.

The other option, depending on how far Peterson wants to take this, is to start dogging it on the field. I am talking about falling down as soon as a fingernail touches you, running into the wrong hole on the blocking scheme, and "accidentally" fumbling during the games. This tactic has been done before, Desean Jackson was pissed at Philly for not giving him a new contract so he started jogging his routes during the games, not even bothering to turn his head and look for the ball either. Desean got his wish and got his walking papers and signed with the Skins for a ton of $$$

Like I said, it depends on how dirty Peterson wants to get.....................there are ways to force yourself off a team besides holding out, just depends on to what extent you want to go (faking injuries, dogging it doing games, intentionally fumbling, ect..)

Yeah, it looks like this might finally be the end of the conversation. A sad day for some of us and a glorious one for others. Either way, it made for some great debates and interesting conversations for me.

He would have helped lead us to a super bowl. It's ok we still have DMF.

My sarcasm meter just went haywire.

LOL!

I heard he was working on a legitimate cure for cancer as well as close to a deal that would bring world peace to the planet. Oh well, he is back to playing football.

And in relevant news, Peterson is supposedly reporting today per Josina Anderson.

Pretty sure this saga is over. Hopefully Jerry now focuses on Lamar Miller. Thats my hope after AP

yeah, I would be ok with Miller as well. He isn't spectacular but he is easily better than the RB's we have on the roster right now.
