If Kyiv falls easily in the next few days it might trigger other problems in the world, the longer Kyiv can hold out the better off some other vulnerable places will be. Ukraine is fighting for more then just themselves.

‘Will I make Molotov cocktails? As soon as I see a Russian soldier,’ says woman proud of Ukraine’s defence
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reminded the citizens of the recipe for a Molotov cocktail to fight the occupiers. And you know what the reaction was? ‘Yes, sir, yes,'” Ms Gaiduk, a 32-year-old communications worker, told i.
“Ukrainians know how to do Molotovs and I’m sure they are ready to do that. Because now we have a really big enemy who is on our land.

Ukraine urges Kyiv residents to 'make Molotov cocktails' as Russia advances and even shows people how to make them
"Make Molotov cocktails, neutralize the occupier!" the ministry tweet said, adding that peaceful residents should be careful and should not leave the house.

The National Guard of Ukraine tweeted out an infographic explaining how to make a Molotov cocktail, which is a kind of improvised bottle-based incendiary weapon with roots in the first First Soviet-Finnish War.

I could not imagine sitting in a tank knowing those could be anywhere at any time.

Here's a short video of a Soviet Helicopter being shot down in Afghanistan with a Stinger missile.

Consider the financial trade-off... Shoulder-fired missiles are far less expensive than helicopters and tanks.

Soviet tankers lived in fear of German soldiers using a shoulder-fired Panzerfaust ("Iron Fist") in urban fighting–They were deadly.

The fighting will not end if Russia takes over Kyiv. They will have to hold and defend it against the Ukrainians fighting to take it back.

The smart move would be for the Ukraine government to move government operations to a Western Ukraine city like Lviv, which is close to Poland.

That would allow NATO to continue supplying them with communications, weapons and general support through Poland while warning Russia if they attack or enter Poland then NATO will respond.

If Kyiv falls, the Ukraine Government will have to move further then Lviv, most likely out of Ukraine all together. If the Ukraine Government stays in Ukraine they will have to move around very often.

If the supplies from NATO come fast and furious that will keep the Ukrainians heads above water and could possibly exhaust Putin.

why does Russia produce such maniacs for leaders?.I feel so bad,for the Ukrainians who want to get out of the shadow of Russia for so long but has to deal with another occupying force.

The political history of the Soviet Union/Russia is fascinating to say the least...

Communism seems to breed such a leader.

Why?

Because the leaders end up being the leaders through cunning, secret deals and the willingness to "toss" competing leaders "under the bus"–Either figuratively or literally.

You can guess what type of person actually wins this sort of battle royale.

yep. For every Yeltsin or Gorbachov who are not too bad you get a lot more Stalins and Mao's and Pol Pot's. Drawing a blank on the leader of Romania when it was communist but he was really a monster.

Some of the videos that are coming out are absolutely horrific. This is basically a live-streamed war and people are going to see horrors they never imagined.

Saw a video of a Russian tank deliberately running over a passing car. Just monster-truck'd right over the thing. Somehow the guy inside lived.

Not a Russian tank, it’s Ukrainian military equipment. Read post 157.

Russia is now threatening Finland and Sweden about joining NATO and China has shown the tendency to isolate Russia on the world stage. I hope they join to call his bluff and NATO readies a strike force against Moscow. See if those Russians are ready to die for this profiteering lowlife.

Does Putin have staying power for a drawn out war with the Ukrainians dug in and the entire world rooting for them?
