******.

After 42 years on this earth, I've never felt truly saddened about a Commanders player, coach, owner, etc. Yes, I've paid my condolences, but truly saddened? No.

This young man's death is beyond words...

Rest in peace, Sean Taylor. You left this world far too young with too many unfinished things not yet done. May God have mercy on your soul and bless your family throughout this unfortunate and totally unnecessary ordeal.

Commander fans, stay strong.

For the person or persons who took this young man's life, God has already forgiven you, but I never will. That's very un-Christian like to say, but I'm not out there killing someone's son, brother, father, either... so sue me.

This is really sad, especially since he has such a young daughter.

It's going to be a somber day at work here in DC.

To his family and friends my prayers are with you. To anyone who says negative things about this young man, my prayers go out to you too. It just eats me up when people look at his past and say different things about him, We do not even know this young man. Only God can judge him. Be strong Commanders because I know this pain will not go away for awhile.

What a terrible tragedy. Sean Taylor had just began to scratch the surface of his potential as a player, husband, father and a human being.

My thoughts are with his family and friends, and most importantly his infant daughter that will never get to experience her fathers love for her.

I can't believe this.

I logged on this morning to see if his condition improved and am greeted with the headline on Yahoo of his death.

Rest in peace, Sean.

I'm at a lost for words really. It's a shame that the world has come to this. Senseless killing after senseless killing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Hopefully justice will be served.

Click on the section titled...The Stadium

Find the thread titled... Today we are all Commander Fans

It is a nice thread started by one of our own.

If you wish to pass on some nice words about Sean or just sentiments please feel free to do so.

I normally never encourage going to another board, but in this case I think it is a nice gesture.

Please remember to keep your manners about you and do not say anything to start trouble.

Be advised that they site seems to be getting bogged down as they are up and down right now.

To an Athlete Dying Young

A.E. Housman

The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.

To-day, the road all runners come,
Shoulder-high we bring you home,
And set you at your threshold down,
Townsman of a stiller town.

Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields were glory does not stay
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose.

Eyes the shady night has shut
Cannot see the record cut,
And silence sounds no worse than cheers
After earth has stopped the ears:

Now you will not swell the rout
Of lads that wore their honours out,
Runners whom renown outran
And the name died before the man.

So set, before its echoes fade,
The fleet foot on the sill of shade,
And hold to the low lintel up
The still-defended challenge-cup.

And round that early-laurelled head
Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead,
And find unwithered on its curls
The garland briefer than a girl's.
