And I see a guy who, when he played for a good defense, was actually quite a player - certainly MUCH better than anyone currently on the roster.

I saw someone who left and proved himself to be overrated

Noone is saying Dwight is some god, and we'll die if we don't sign him. But he's certainly a better option than anything else we have.

but I'm saying there's no need to sign him, none, nadda, zippo

nope, I cant, and frankly, it doesn't matter what he has done in his career, lately he sucks

Okay, well thankfully you just came out and admitted defeat instead of letting this drag on any longer.

OK

Quick math lesson:

Average > Very Below Average

Therefore, Smith would be an improvement over what Dallas currently has.

Just like Roy is overrated, right? ;) Because people don't watch him, or inform themselves, and make wholesale decisions based on stats?

but I'm saying there's no need to sign him, none, nadda, zippo

The fact that he is better than any FS on our roster is reason enough for me. Short of being superhuman, I'm not sure what you're looking for here.

I wouldn't mind seeing us sign Smith at all. I think, with a good defense to back him, he could be an excellent pick-up for us. His coverage ability is exactly what we need opposite Roy.

We could put him in the slot on the other team's 3rd WR and not have to hold our breaths waiting for the inevitable long gainer. Put him at FS last year and I don't think we lose in week 2 to Washington.

Assuming his character suits Parcells, I say do it.

ok, even though we're cool and I respect you, this putting words in my mouth is getting old

right, and the people who do watch him, and inform themselves, felt the need to cut him

I'm not looking for anything really

I guess everybody but you.

As I've said, don't let facts get in your way.

Everyone has clearly shown that Smith is better than anything the Cowboys have.

You've provided nothing but your own misguided opinions.

And been proven wrong again and again.

By me and everyone else here.

But keep diggin'!

By the cheapest franchise in the NFL, and will have his phone ringing off the hook in no time with suitors.

Yes, defeated. You claim he's mediocre in coverage and you're just flat out wrong. He may be lockerroom trouble, but when you question his ability on the field you clearly don't know what you're talking about. Anyone who watched more than 2 Saint games last year could tell you he was probably the best player last year.

That's not what I'm doing. I'm emphasizing the fact that perception is not always reality.

right, and the people who do watch him, and inform themselves, felt the need to cut him

They drafted other players, they wanted cheaper options, apparently. We let Glover go - is that a reflection on Glover, or on his fit for our team?

I'm not looking for anything really

We need something, if it can be got.

not saying much

I've proved that he was beat out by a 2nd year player, at his best position, had to move to SS, and didn't do too great last year

but not from us

And IMO, that will be a shame, that we passed up a golden opportunity to upgrade such a huge area of need. Especially considering our aspirations this year.

So did Owens, guess he's a lousy player too.......

You've proven nothing.

Except maybe that you think your opinion counts more than reality.

And you've admitted yourself that he's better than what Dallas currently has starting.

So I don't see the point for this argument....

the Saints cut Glover because they had to get under the cap, not the case in this situation

Give me one game where he didn't.

You seem to be of this deluded belief that 5 INT's a season is common place for a safety in the NFL.

Again, you really don't know what you're talking about or you're just being obstinate because you've backed yourself into a corner.
